Beware of Mason, Goodwin & Lisco

Mason, Goodwin & Lisco – http://www.masongoodwinandlisco.com – is a likely bogus timeshare consultancy which seems to be based in Tenerife, although pretends to be based in London.

They don’t classify themselves openly as a Legal Consultancy, although claim to be able to help timeshare owners who were misrepresented or suffered the miss-selling of their timeshares, and would help them to surrender their deeds to their resorts, which would allegedly result with the ending of the timeshare owners’ obligation to pay their annual maintenance fees, in a timeframe of one month!

I can confirm you that this company is not member of the Law Society in England & Wales, so it cannot provide any kind of legal advice. Neither is register at the UK Companies House or Spanish Companies House.

I am aware that this company is cold calling timeshare owners, requesting upfront payment of up to £400 to provide the previous service.

Upfront payments are illegal when requested in timeshare purchases, resale offers, as established by the new timeshare European Directive.

Timeshare owners who purchased their weeks in Tenerife seem particularly targeted, what it might tell us that the people behind this likely scam are using unlawfully lists of timeshare owners who purchased in Tenerife. Some of the people behind this likely scam might have worked in the past for timeshare resorts located in this island.

Mason, Goodwin & Lisco began an online campaign with Press Releases in a number of online channels last March 2010 as a way to boost their “corporate image”, although I have not detected any new positive online feature on them recently though.

And this very recent:

Trying also to give more credibility to their “brand” they also set up accounts in two social networks: Facebook & Twitter.

http://twitter.com/MasonGoodwinLis

Their address is a mail forwarding company used by other timeshare fraudsters in the past:

Dalton House
60 Windsor Avenue
London
SW19 2RR

Their webpage does not comply with the basic legal requirements.

Mason Goodwin & Lisco which claims to be a UK based Legal Consultancy having access unlawfully to timeshare owners’ confidential information, and strangely they are not meeting their potential clients in the UK, but in Tenerife!

Spanish law does not allow Spanish Law Firms to market their services, so nobody working for Spanish Law Firms is allowed to cold call timeshare owners.

So who would be representing Mason Goodwin & Lisco in the meetings in Tenerife? UK solicitors? Spanish solicitors?

I recommend you NOT TO DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY and please, contact us urgently if you have been cold called by them.

I am presently trying to get my money back.

    Re. United Online
I would like to thank the organisers and contributors of this website as all the information and guidance given has allowed me to make a successful claim for my money to be refunded by Barclaycard. Without the information given I would have lost over £1200 which I had foolishly paid upfront to United Online in the belief that they had a purchaser for my Diamond Resort points.
Thank you again and keep up the excellent work.

  3. Richard Evans says:

Paid Mason Goodwin & Lisco £625.00. Received telephone calls early on to say all was going well but after 120 days realised all was not well. Stay Clear of this company.

  5. Helen Thomson says:

Have been cold called today by MGL, but thankfully we didn’t take up there offer, and said we would investigate them first, so thank you for saving us £400 + by giving us the information on your site.

    • Dear Helen,

Many thanks for your message. We are very pleased to see you did not go for their offer and saved yourself the money and the time you would have invested in trying to obtain the refund!

      Many thanks!

  6. Thomas.
i have also been ripped off by (MGL) for quite a very large sum of money for them to get moneys back from (connect 6 holiday consultants in tenerife) they took our payment of our switch visa card & we also could only get answere phone when ever we tried to ring them, we was told they would get our money back within (120 days or less) & if they could not get it back we was also told they would refund our money that we payed them!! so far we have not heard anything from them & they have never been in touch & have never had any help from them in any way what so ever
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THESE PEOPLE AS THEY ARE CON ARTISTS.
we should all get together those of us who have been conned & take these people to the CLEANERS like they have taken us all!!

  7. sue says:

hi we have given this company money for two time shares, i have now had legal letters from both my time shares saying i am over due with my maintenance fees, i contactact MGL and thay told me not to pay and just forward on all letters ect to them as they would deal with it but under no circumstances should i contact my time share companies, well this went on for ages i was forwarding on mail by recorded delivery until i decided to contact rci, they told me MGL must be scam as they had not had any letters from them and thay had not registered the sale and infact i am still the owner and reponsable for all fees due even though MGL have my deeds. so i have again written asking for my money back, i have had no reply and am now in contact with a legal solicitor to see where i stand as this is most deffinatly a case of fraud.

  8. Eliza says:

Thank you for word of the worning.
Just today “MGL” company contact me via phone.Aparently they can help me recover my money which I paid for future holidays on Tenerife in 2009.And they will charge me “just” 400 Euro.
After the conversation they send me email with”terms and conditions”and”sample of MGL mediation agreement”.
Weirdest is they have all my personal informations!
Where from?Maybe someone have the answere?

  9. COLIN COOKE says:

    PLEASE BE AWARE.
This is the second time we have been contacted, the first being Pro – Call Corpotate Services SL. The second being Mason Goodwin & Lisco.
Both so called companys made very simalar offers, the first being £259-00 the second being 450 euros.
Both offered one weeks free accomodation provided that we payed for our own airfares.
The catch is that any money due to ourselves would be refunded upon completion
    of the buisness in Tenerife.
Having re-viewed comments by other people, we come to the conclusion that these two offers are only SCAMS.

  10. Daphne Mee says:

Mason Goodwin and Lisco are not only targeting timeshare owners in Tenerife – my timeshare is in Malta.

Originally cold called by World Wide Minibreaks, I was informed that Reclaimgc (based in the Canary Islands) would be able to act on my behalf wih regard to the mis-selling of my timeshare. I went to Tenerife in January 2011, where I was informed that Reclaimgc only process claims for Spanish timeshares. Worldwide Minibreaks persuaded me to sign up with Mason Goodwin and Lisco. With a London address, I felt that I would be safe in pursuing my claim through this company and subsequently made a considerable payment to Mason Goodwin and Lisco to handle my case.

Following several phone calls (London phone number and often having to leave a message to return my call) I subsequently sent copies of my timeshare documents, by registered post, to Mason Goodwin and Lisco to their London address – since found to be a mail forwarding facility.

I was then contacted by Reclaimgc (March 2011) and informed that, as my case had been referred to them for action, I would need to go to Tenerife to process my claim through them.

Being aware that Reclaimgc would require further payment, I requested a refund of the payment made to Mason Goodwin and Lisco on the grounds that they had not processed my claim in accordance with my agreement with them. I then received an email, claiming that they had fulfilled their due diligence, informing me that: “We have had to seek advice from legal representation in Spain and paid for it via the fee you paid …. your fee covers all costs and any further costs needed we cover …”. By the same email, Mason Goodwin and Lisco offered to pay the cost of my returning to Tenerife (accommodation and flights, to be arranged through World Wide Minibreaks) with the fee paid to them to be deducted from any legal cost applicable and urging me to accept this offer.

Having since carried out further research (via the web including this site) it becomes increasingly evident to me that Mason Goodwin and Lisco, Worldwide Minibreaks and Reclaimgc are working together on this.

I would therefore urge anyone contacted by any of these (or other similar companies) to refuse any offers made by them.
