Has Group Savers cold called you and passed you to Willard Thomas Claims?

WTC

This is a new one indeed. Group Savers is a cold calling claims company which was detected by us already in July 2013 and placed on the cold caller list.

The have now changed their way of working, and although Group Savers continues to cold call they are not actually the company that will process the supposed claim for the customer.

After the initial cold call, the agent from Group Savers assures the client he has a possibility to claim a refund from his Timeshare purchase and an agent from Willard Thomas Claims Ltd will be contacting him back.

After 5 minutes the timeshare owner indeed receives a call from Willard Thomas Claims Ltd. The agent calling seems to be rather new on the subject timeshare, and actually assures all clients they can claim, even those who already got a refund or no longer own their timeshare.

Willard Thomas Claims does not take an upfront fee and states they only charge the fee after the client has been refunded.

But who is Willard Thomas Claims Ltd?

This company was registered in October 2013 at the UK Companies House. The same month they also launched their website http://www.willardthomasclaims.co.uk/

Address is Henleaze House, 13 Harbury Road, Henleaze, Bristol, BS9 4PN United Kingdom and contact number 0121 450 9054 and email info@willardthomasclaims.co.uk

Although the name of Willard Thomas Claims would give the impression that they are a “claims company”, reading through their web they insist they are an “unregulated claims company” which means they actually handle claims under the Consumer Credit Act and not regulated by the Claims Management Regulator.

They also point out they are “not prohibited when necessary in taking a refundable pre-payment against certain claims they choose to represent.”

It does seem strange that these companies are using the cold call to approach consumers, and it is a targeted cold call because they certainly know the customer is a timeshare owner and they even seem to know the membership details etc.

If you are contacted by Group Savers from 02034781619 or Willard Thomas Claims from 01214509054 for a claim against your Holiday company, please let us know.

Hi, my brother in the UK has been cold called and contacted by Willard Thomas, he was told no win no pay so he allowed them to have all the details. They contacted him again and told him the money he was owed was sitting in a bank waiting to be claimed. As the money was being paid directly to him they would require a £750.00 payment as a bond to guarantee there payment. fortunately he paid it on his credit card, since then they have tried to get more. I have told him to contact his sredit card company and tell them he is a victim of fraud. He phoned them 3 days ago to see if there was any news as he had hreard nothing for a month, he was told they would find out from their legal department. Today he recieved a letter from them stating it will take at least another eight weeks. i to resolve the claim. I hope he has smelt the coffee and now cuts his losses and tries to retrieve his £750.00 .Regards Tony. ( on behalf of my brother Terry )

I had a call from Group Savers and Willard Thomas Claims Ltd. and after they asked me for a refundable deposit of £750 from a cridit card I became very suspicious. Now that I have read other comments on this site I will not be preceeding with this, I will not be paying them any money up front. The more I listend to the WT man calling himself Michael (refused to give me his other name) the more unproffesional he sounded. He just kept on repeating himself and would not send any paperwork through the post until I had paid £750. My reply when he calls tomorrow wil be a very definite NO THANK YOU!

We have also been bombarded with calls from so many companies over the years, all saying they could get our money back from Club Class holidays. We lost money to a scam by Key properties already and recently have been chased by Real Time claims, who after several months have done nothing and somehow our details have been picked up by Group Savers….who have passed our details to Willard Thomas Claims. Chris from WTC calls almost daily, they said it was no win no fee…but are now asking for £500 from a CC as a bond….which apparently we will get back if not successful, as we would be covered by CC. Very convincing chat,….reg English company (that can be done by anyone) and a website ( that can be done by anyone)….after reading comments I know what my answer will be when he rings AGAIN tomorrow!

  7. jane says:

Leanne has called me today – she apparently spoke to my dad yesterday. Now, I am currently living with my parents and to be honest it is just as well. I am filtering all these damn scam calls – between ppi claims, accident claims and now this??

She will be calling back later…

PS> does anyone know if the TPS actually works? So far this week I have registered 8 unwanted calls with the ICO.

  8. M J says:

Called yesterday by Group Saver said they would call back on Tuesday – after reading the above I know what my answer will be.

  9. Derek says:

I too have been contacted by Group save and then by Willard Thomas in respect of a timeshare/holiday club contract in 1999. So far I have not been asked to provide any up-front monies, and have told them that after the monies spent in trying to get some redress through the Spanish Courts, none will be paid. Each time I am contacted it reminds me of the hurt and distress caused by a moment of madness by myself and I am still hoping that perhaps, somewhere, there is a litigation company that genuinely has its clients interest at heart!

  10. Patricia says:

I too was cold called by Group saver and passed to Willard Thomas. they said that they could get back what I had paid with compound interest, and they would want 25% of that. However they wanted a bond of £750 paid on credit card to cover their costs. Not really ‘No win no fee’
    I politely declined.

  11. Janet says:

Willard Thomas were satisfied that I had ALL the necessary paperwork to claim back my Club Class money but they still wanted £500 paid by credit card in case I cancelled when they had done some of the work – not very professional – as surely they would be able to take any money out of the refund or invoice me after I had cancelled & if necessary take me to court. I had already told Leanne that no matter what I was NOT paying out any more money up front before Willard Thomas rang. The answer is NO NO NO!

  12. Bernie says:

Received a call from Leanne and then Simon Tate of Willard Thomas Claims, I was categorically assured that now money was required up front as this was a no win, no fee basis. They said they need a minimum of 25 clients to help keep the costs down. He is calling me back on Monday for details of the money lost on my Club Class/Holiday Warehouse mis- selling.

Glad to here everybody elses calls, he will get a piece of my mind when he calls on Monday, just sick to death of this never going away.

    • Janet says:

Bernie, You sum up what I’m thinking exactly – a moments madness on holiday and years of nightmare! I know I’ll never go to the Canaries again!

  13. bill says:

Last week had a cold call from Morgan Swann & Partners
    Exchange House
    494 Midsummer Boulevard,
    Central Milton Keynes. MK9 2EA
I asked the young lady to forward me details, and today I have received in the post, there introductory letter and Terms of Engagement
No win No fee. states at no stage will anyone from Morgan Swann ask for payment from you, prior to obtaining successful outcome.
On reaching successful resolution , the refund paid directly to claimant
    fee. 25 + vat
Morgan Swann regulated by Ministry of Justice (does that mean anything?)
They are registered with ICO (Information Commissioners Office – Data Protection)

Has anyone heard of or had dealings with Morgan Swann?
    Thanks

  14. bill says:

I was called today by Niel from Willard Thomas Cliams, he said that they could now claim for the full amount paid to Incentive Leisure as the government had taken off the restriction (previously only CC payments under section 75) as it was unfair on people who had paid the bulk by bank transfer, as I did.
Does anyone know if there is any truth in what he said?
I feel this could well be another scam.
I asked him to send me info by email, he said he could not do that, but I could have the web address, he said don’t Google search it, just put it straight into the Tab bar and it would come up, I guess he didn’t want me to search it as he knew I would see this sight.

  15. Hilary says:

Just been called by Willard Thomas Claims and they have assured me they can get my money back from Viva Connect scam. When pressed on the ‘no fee’ aspect they said that this is the case but also said thay may ask for a ‘commitment’ from me should I pull out before they have completed the litigation work. When asked what is the difference between a commitment and a fee the caller was a bit stumped. They are calling back Friday – I already know my response but will not put it in writing here….!

  16. Brian says:

Hi Alberto (and fellow subscribers). Today, I received a call from Leanne Mason of Group Savers, Croyden, Surrey (telephone number 0203 4781619 but she didn’t know her post code apparently!). She (of course) knew about my Club Class/Holiday Warehouse issues and was keen to assure me she wasn’t asking for any money, was a marketing company who could put me in touch with one of a number of ‘claims experts’ to secure a full refund. I asked her where she got my details from – she answered “from the claims companies”. Ten minutes later, I received a call from a Simon Tate of “Willard Thomas” (on a Birmingham number 0121 450 9054) to take more details from me. I asked him where he got my details from – he answered “from Group Savers”. I asked him where they would have got my details from – he answered “they are a Data Management Company and would have purchased a datbase from ‘someone’ with those details on it. I asked how long WT had been trading and he said, 1 year 4 months “in our current guise”. When challenged, he didn’t appear to know what previous guises the Company had traded in. I’ll keep you posted…

  17. Janet says:

Leanne from Group Saver Croydon called just now offering to get our Club Class money back. Than had a call from man at Willard Thomas Claims Ltd who was most helpful but now after reading your comments am sure it is another red herring which is going to cause more stress! Leanne says they are working for the Ministry of Justice can this be true?!

  18. kate says:

Hi I have been cold called by this company and was asked for £500 on credit card as a bond in case I drop out after work has been done I have given my credit card details but on receiving the contract to sign I am now worried and are seeking advise they are saying they can get my Club Class money back and I have told them that I do not have any of the credit card details of that transaction but they say it is no problem and they will not tell me where my payout if any will come from .

    Anyone else having same call

    worried

    • billy says:

send them a letter saying that you want your money refunded and they have seven days to refund you,if not refunded in seven days you will contact your credit card company to do a money grab. What it means is after the seven days you card company takes it on as you believe the transaction to be fraudulent.Speak to your cards fraud section and make them aware of what you are doing.Hope this helps.Billy

    • Nigel says:

      Dear Kate,
You need to be worried. I suggest that you contact your CC company/Bank and tell them what has happened and that you suspect fraud or a scam.

  19. Graham says:

Hello – thought I should update you on what has happened to us with our timeshare. We had a week at Beverley Hills [Silverpoint] in Tenerife. I decided we’d call their bluff and state we were no longer going to pay maintenance and wished to give up our week. To our astonishment they agreed. We have sent back our documents and have had a formal reply stating that our ownership was relinquished. You may know that Beverley Hills has been downgraded and that they are now keen to empty it. It would be good to pass on this information to any other owners keen to leave Beverly Hills. Best wishes Graham

  20. Andrew says:

Yes, WT wanted £375 up front to be held in protective “Bond” and returned after successful litigation. Sounded very convincing. Cr card payment preferred – advised I had insurance cover if I was doubtful. Relates to mis-sold timeshare in Spain.

  21. Rob says:

Alberto – interesting to see the address and telephoneno. of Willard Thomas Claims. BRISTOL address and a BIRMINGHAM telephone no.

  22. marrion says:

Hello Alberto No, no-one of that name or similar has called me. Wendy of Reclaim (the pesistent one) was the last, a couple of days ago. Regards, Marrion
