The new European Directive. Will it be effective?

Crackdown on holiday club rogues … about five years too late

http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/investigations/2011/02/crackdown-on-holiday-club-rogu.html

It is not only the last five years.

Discount Holiday Club Memberships are operating, about, since 1999. This product emerged after the putting in force of the last Timeshare Directive.

In essence, Discount Holiday Club Memberships are a complete scam. I could give you lots of evidences.

I think that introducing a New European Directive to avoid scams with Discount Holiday Club Membership, fraudulent timeshare resale companies, bogus cash back companies, bogus lawyers, notaries and other related fraudulent companies, is not the best efficient way to do it.

They should have enforced the existing law instead.

Let’s be honest. This new Directive will not put an end with scams unless the Authorities do not coordinate themselves to enforce the existing laws.

    Bonjour

thanks everyone above, I have been contactacted over the past few days by Half moon holdings and today they have come back to me saying they have a buyer willing to pay £7850.00 for my weeks and have sent an email confirming this. The advisor/ sales person (Lisa Cole) has rattled off some figures to me to say that they do not take any money upfront and that the buyer pays all the fees. The email then goes on to say that they require a retainer of 995 euros which will be reimbursed once the documents have been received. They are supposed to be getting back to me in the next hour. I will inform you of the outcome…………..

Hi, we were approached by HM Holdings im march and went ahead with the sale. We passed over our details after being assuted on numerous occasions that the payment would not be taken until the sale had fully completed. It was’nt until we received our credit card statement that the money had been taken out BEFORE we had signed anything, and 4 months on our supposed sale fell through and is now up for sale again. We also think there is another bogus company doing the rounds called Consuldat Solution Services???? Has anyone dealt with this company before, they sound exactly the same as G&G Representations, who you have reported on this site. Wish this had been out in March, I spent 2 weeks researching HM Holdings before going ahead, it was’nt until after the event this all came out, doh!

  5. It appears that i have scammed as well,i was contacted & told they could sell my timeshare,i was allso asked to pay a DEPOSITE of 12,000.00 euros, which unfortunatly i did.since then no action,i did manage to talk to a live person 2weeks ago & was told that due to the fires they had over there there was trouble with the phone lines, since then unable to get a live voice just leave a message, but it seems the message box is full.Take heed any one else who gets asked for a deposit DONT PAY IT.Regards.Bernard.

    • Dear Bernard,

Thanks for your comment on our blog.
I am really sorry to hear you have been victim of a scam.
Unfortunately you don’t mention the companies name so we can put a warning on the blog in case it isn’t there yet about this company.
      Let us know!
People need to be warned about ruthless scam companies that take money from innocent timeshare consumers.

Just spent some time following a cold call to buy our 2 weeks with Heritage Resorts.
They offered a good price, but advised they wanted a fully refundable `temporary retainer of 1195 euros` for 4-6 weeks until the sale was completed.
I have advised them, by email, I am now not happy with this process and they must seek out an alternate way of funding the sale where no upfront fee is paid by me, say escro account, or from the final sales figure.
It will be interesting to hear what they have to say.

  7. julian steven feder says:

we have been contacted by HM holdings they wanted a £500 deposit from us. we have not paid it as i stalled and checked the net for any info. They are phoning back Monday to resume the deal. reading your blog we will not do business. thank you for your info. Ps do you know the best way to seel our timeshare?????

    Thanks again. Julian

    • Hi Julian Steven,

We are glad to hear that thanks to our article in the blog many consumers did not pay any money out to the bogus resale company Half Moon Holding. Thanks to people like you who advise us about these companies and keep us informed about the calls and offers they receive we are able to collect evidence for the police and close down these companies.

Please note that you should NEVER pay any monies to any company that contacts you on a cold call. We recommend you NOT TO DEAL with these companies. In general, do not deal with any company that asks for an upfront fee. 99, 99 % are fraudulent.

With regards to your question on how to sell the holiday ownership you have, at present the market is very slow but in case you are looking for a company that is able to help you please go to the RDO website http://www.rdo.org where you can find a list of resale companies approved by the RDO and who don’t take money upfront.

      Regards.

I have also been contacted by Half Moon Holdings today. They have offered me £7,500 for my dwvc holiday club membership and want 1295 euros returnable deposit. They are very cunning as the man who contacted me was Jack, a Scot who just wanted to help another Scot. Needless to say I won’t be proceeding. Thanks for your advice.

      • Hi Allan,

Thanks for your comment on this blog. I am glad you are not paying them a penny! But what about your DWVC membership? Have you read our comments about ILG and DWVC on this blog? We can help you with seeking a refund on that as well.
We’ll send you the info by email.
