The ODYSSEY family keeps on growing!

In May we informed on this blog about another Odyssey Group company named Odyssey VIP.

Odyssey Group ( “modus operandi” is the following: cold calls to timeshare and point owners with firm resale offers, requesting up to 1,500 Euros as “security bond” or “refundable fees” following the transfer of ownership documents. If accepted the offer the operation would allegedly be concluded in 3 – 4 weeks.

This resale firm is using a nine months marketing contract, and not a straightforward sales agreement, as initially indicated in the calls, and there is not any firm resale offer as stated in the first phone calls.

For Odyssey VIP we have also another phone number they are using and not mentioned in the earlier blog:  872 426 02 64

But as we have many timeshare consumers that keep us updated on the calls they receive and the amazing resale offers just on cold calls, we have now found indications that they are linked to at least the following companies:

Avant Holidays / Avant Vacations /Avant Leisure / Tel: 0808 129 3879

Avant Guarda Viatages – Tel. 0845 1085 556

Global Reservation Services SL –

Finally Sold – Tel: (0034) 971679186 Fax: (0034) 971684046

T.H.E. Group –

Nowon-line –       Tel. (UK) 0845 0758115

All these companies have a similar Modus Operandi: and at some point they ask an upfront fee for a “guaranteed” resale which is totally against the New European Directive which banned the deposit taking from timeshare resale companies.

The websites do not comply with the legal requirements for websites as there is no proper identification of the company.

Have you been approached by any of the above companies? Have you paid them any money or told them you weren’t interested?

We would like to hear from you!

I had a call from Odyssey SL , Apartado de Correos 13017, 07013 Palma de Mallorca, saying they had a corporate buyer for my timeshare product.
They did not ask for any money but have sent a letter for me to sign with a box to tick saying “I accept the offer mentioned above”.
Apparently signing this letter just allows them to forward my details to the corporate entity so that they can contact me directly.
Is this all part of the same scam group?

Sadly, I have found your web site too late to prevent me with parting with the Euro1,495 that Odyssey VIP wanted to sell my 2 weeks of timeshare for £6,000. I was contacted by Avant Guard Travel who were the supposed buyers, who then asked me to send a further £2,074 as a deposit for the sale. This is when a rat was smelt and I questioned the need for further deposits if they had their buyer. I have since been trying to locate Odyssey without success to obtain a refund of my initial deposit. Not surprisingly all of the numbers I have do not connect with anyone. If you are aware of how I can contact this outfit I would be grateful to hear from you so that I can pursue them for a refund.
In the meantime, have nothing to do with these scam companies, I have learned my lesson too late it seems!

I was contacted by James Clarke from Holiday rentals Direct who claimed he had a buyer for my timeshare week who was willinng to pay £7,900. I would receive the cash within four weeks and the papwerwork would be completed after a further four weeks. To progress this all I had to do was give James my credit card details and pay him e1309 until the sale went through. I offered to let him retain £2,900 from the amount I would receive and pay the balance on competion, he wouldnt do this as he was anxious to have my credit card details. The offer in writing wasnt emailed to me as promised, when he phoned back he queried my email address and asked if I was sure the address was correct ( think this was a delaying tactic). When I asked if his company worked to the New Europaen Directive he claimed not to have heard of it.
I said that I wasnt happy to give my credit card details so would call into his office in person with the relevant paperwork. He wasnt happy for me to do this and quickly ended the call

I was telephoned (out of the blue?) by Net Time Brokers, who offered me £3,500 for my timeshare in Malta, I said I was hoping to get at least £4K, and they rang later and said they had a buyer willing to give me £4K, contract to come in the post, couldd they take a deposit as a bond that I would complete ? My bank was debited (via my debit card , which I gave them) with £1246.39 (£1259 worth of Eurosat the next day’s rate?) and the docs came by rcorded mail from Palmanova, and in the same post from Odyssey group in Palma de Mallorca (but enclosing an envelope addressed to Odyssey SL, Unit 1,26 Cleveland Road, South Woodford, London, E18 2AN) enclosing a debit card slip to sign (even though the payment had already gone out to Odyssey Consultants). I am supposed to sign the contract, and when the £4K goes into my Bank, I ring Net Time Brokers, who send a courier service to collect the deeds. I then quote my client number plus the carriers reciept number (how will they know it?) and get my deposit/bond/surety payment back. NTB’s Terms and Conditions give them lots of opportunities to hang on to the retainer. I have an option to cancel the agreement and return the unsigned papers within 14 days. “Any cancellation past this period will result in the loss of any retainer paid by the owner”.

I still have a week from the date if their letter to stay within the 14 days, and I am minded to do this . I just hope I can geta letter to them in time, and get my money back. Has anyone ever had any luck getting money back? Does anyone recognise Odyssey’s address?
