Newsletter August 2011

Dear Timeshare Consumer,

The summer is coming to an end and most of us are back to work again. Our team continued working throughout the summer with skeleton staff and we were actually very surprised to see that both the blog visits and activity by email did not really slow down in the summer.

The Mindtimeshare blog had over 16.000 visitors in the month of August and we have hit already a daily visitor’s record on the 7th of September with 1004 visitors!

We hope this continues and we can reach as many consumers possible to prevent fraud and receive more and more comments that say “luckily we found the blog and we haven’t paid any money”

We need to stress here that thanks to all the consumers who contact us, sometimes immediately after being called, and give us the information about these companies, we are able to put warnings on the blog very quickly. Sometimes it is just a name, a website and a phone number but being able to tell others to be careful when they are called and these names pop up…has saved a lot of people a lot of money and grief!

We cannot thank you enough for this cooperation! We are fighting fraud but our strongest weapon will be prevention!

  2. John Black says:

Like Leonard, I have a list of the latest “Cold Callers” (from yourselves) that we have been subjected to over the past few months. Each one sounds more plausable than the previous one, but thanks to MindTimeshare emails we now have in place a discipline where we will not answer any call made from an international number indicated on our handset.

    • Thanks John for your comment.
It is actually sad to think you have to be so alert when the phone rings…but unfortunately it has to be this way.
At least you are aware now of these companies, and if a new one comes on the line, please let us know!
      Kind regards
      Customer Care

  3. Leonard Gilbank says:

I am writing to say a big thankyou, I now have a list of all your alerted names beside the phone, and have got more use to being less rood and more assertive over the phone when they pester me. touch wood not had a phone call now for 6 weeks, upto June they werer several times per week, I know with your help and valuable information I have got from your hard work, it has given me a boost of confidence, which I am sure is where most of these fraudsters realy trade at, by trying to reduce a person from saying no at the beginning.

    • Dear Leonard,
THANK YOU for your kind words and placing your trust in us.
We really think that prevention is a very strong weapon against this kind of fraud, because the more people are warned the more will say no when receiving a call.
Please keep on checking the blog, and keep us updated of any new calls.
We cannot do it without the help of customers like you!
      Kind regards
      Customer Care

  4. Ron Graham says:

I was called yesterday evening by Chris Robson <
with regards to my timeshare Monica Isabel Beach Club in the Algarve
He did not require a fee and would call me back tonight .
I would be required to go to their nearest base which would be Manchester to discuss
a price and back ground check. After 4-6 weeks i would receive payment and then the ownership
    documents would be transferred.
    Ron Graham

    • Hi Ron, Thanks for the message.
Most probably we have here a new consumer alert!
These meetings never need money upfront, but believe me they won’t dispose of your timeshare for free, you’ll either have to buy into their dubious Discount Membership Travel Club or a faraway investment on the other side of the world…
If you do go, please let us know, we are curious!
      Kind regards
      Customer Care

      • Jan says:

Similarly to Ron above, I have just had a call from Samantha at a Manchester based company, issential marketing, who say wouldn’t ask for any money up front to help me get rid of my timeshare.
They say their reps are going out on the road to deal with travel agents who want to buy timeshare in bulk….I would be invited to meet with them somewhere locally. Of course there would be a lawyer present to ensure all deeds and payment were taken care of properly at the time (!!!???)
They say they will contact me again in 2-3 weeks to set this up.
She gave me the web site of
Have you heard of them? Is this a new breed of calls to watch out for?

      • Hi Jan,
This one is a new one then and yes we should be looking out for more calls and be warned….
The website is weird, doesn’t say anything about Timeshare or related companies?
Please keep us updated, any information is welcome.
        Kind regards
        Customer Care
