EFTAG calling ILG members; coincidence or conscious targeting?

Over the past week we have received more and more messages from consumers stating they have been approached by the European Fair Trade Advisory Group (EFTAG) SL.

We knew EFTAG was cold calling timeshare consumers and we already placed a warning on our blog http://wp.me/p1kmoi-9G

But what is happening now is that EFTAG is particularly targeting Timelinx /ILG / DWVC members!

They call the ILG owners and these are told by the agent that he / she represents EFTAG European Fair Trading Advisory Group, asking if we would like to fly to Spain, they provide the hotel, to learn about a law suit that is being instigated against Timelinx.  The reason for travelling to Spain is to sign papers, which cannot be done by fax. Apparently (so they tell the consumer) when Gary Leigh / Lee died he left £40mill, in assets which have been frozen, and will be used to reimburse claimants.

First question that comes up is “how did they obtain the customers details?” Has this something to do with the fact they were “neighbors” before when the offices were located in the same area in Fuengirola last year?

Law suit instigated against Timelinx by whom? By EFTAG?

That’s almost the same membership they already have, the DWVC one!

Please be careful when deciding to attend these kinds of meetings, and make sure you don’t sign or pay for something that isn’t clear at al!

Have you been called by EFTAG – European Fair Trading Advisory Group? Please let us know!

  1. Fam. K en G. Bos de Bruin says:

We have been calles from EFTAG as well. We visisted them in Benamaldena.
They told us that our name was put out the registers in Spain.
We had to go to a counceler,, we got papers and they promised us to make a claim,
so at last we should get about 27.000 euro’s.
We had to pay 1250 euro’s and later on 4700 euro’s fo all the work they should do for us.
Every week they call us and asked when we send the money.
So we should it was save, but after reading this things, iIthink it is better to stop sending money

  2. Peter & Carole Rowlands says:

Hi, my name is Pete Rowlands, a victim of ILG & others. Roxanne from European Fair Trading contacted us this week enquiring as to wether we had had dealing with ILG. I told her that we were working with another company trying to resolve these problems. Is there any way to PROPER way to resolve these situations ?

  3. I have just been cold called by EFAG offering a NO WIN NO FEE COMPENSATION CLAIM regarding a lawsuit against the timedhare industry

    The main points are:
Maintenance fees increasing year on year and in some cases above inflation.
Perpetuity clause, there is no ‘get out’ clause, in the event of the owners death, the burden of paying the maintenance fees gets passed onto family members.
    Difficulty in getting promised exchanges.
Mis-sold timeshare or going through high finance companies to obtain credit.
Constantly harassed on the telephone by companies offering services because you can’t get the product out of your name.

All you need to do is sign at our free registration centre and our Legal Team will take it from there

I am concerned about rising Maint fees an the ‘in perpetuity clause but I am begining to think that the free reqistration centre will be in Spain. I am inclined to leave this company well alone – am I right ?

  4. Stuart says:

Just been approached by SJH Property Administration & Services Ltd who offer me definite sale to an interested person whose daughter has weeks at our site and wishes to buy at a reasonable price so long as we pay £1900 as a holding legal fee in case we withdraw, which we can claim back within 59 days if sale not go through. Name of prospect given, guarantees fom Barclays, Santander & HSBC..

Oh the resort will be unaware of this company who are “Trustees” as they are only sales persons, resort managers etc..

Sound familiar ? Would you advise

  5. Bryan says:

I have just been contacted by a company called Paramount Marketing who can introduce to a company called Capitol Marketing Chesterfield who will legally remove our names of the title deeds they do not buy your timeshare just remove you. Has anyone dealt with this company or is it just a scam
