Carlton Consultants, cold callers for resale with upfront fee

Here we go again…this time the name is Carlton Consultants, and they seem to be targeting at the moment especially Club Class Members and DWVC members.

Carlton Consultants contacts by cold call and offers the timeshare consumer a very attractive price for their Membership.

Who doesn’t want to sell if the price is attractive?

On their website, registered on the 18th of November 2011 they claim to be the professional resale company.

At least they took the time to create a supposed resale listing, but how realistic is a DWVC holiday membership for sale on £8750?

They explain they are not a resale company but a website that brings “buyers and sellers together”
But in order to process the sale of the Membership they request a retainer fee of £1500, oh dear another company that hasn’t heard of the Timeshare Directive where upfront fees are banned!

Their telephone number are : 0845 557 7258 or 01983 898384 and email:

Have you been called by Carlton Consultants on phone number 08455577258 or 01983 898384 ?

I wrote on here a few weeks ago in reguards to Carlton consultants, and now have been contacted by yet another company offering £9600….what a joke Their name is Excalibur, they will tell you at first there is no money needed as a retainer, Then comes the call with the client in front of them with the deposit ready. All they need is £1395 up front………no doubt I will have a different company call in the next few weeks……..Just beware everyone all these low lifes want is your money……..the same as the lowlifes that sell the worthless travel memberships.

  4. Charlie says:

Got a call from Carlton Consultants today, wanting £1’497 as a bond, they can sell our club class sapphire membership and get us £8’700. They advised us to use a solicitor so our bond is safe, they have given me a number to ring, I might just do that and give the lady this website address!
The lady from C,C’s name is Heather Thomas, sounds very convincing on the phone

    • Gordon says:

I have received two cold calls from Carlton Consultants advising me that they are very busy at the Holiday Exhibition being held in Birmingham and are confident that they have a buyer for my DWVC membership. A payment of £1450 by credit card is required to show that I will not sell my membership while the deal through Carlton takes place. The £1450 is returned on completion of their sale. On hearing that I was not interested in putting any money at risk I was informed that there is no risk, for my money could be recovered from my credit card bank if the deal they set up does not materialise. I still do not trust cold calls like this so have not progressed the matter.
I understood that DWVC/ILG had been put in liquidation and that membership in them was worthless anyway. Am I wrong or is there anyone who can advise me that my membership is worth anything or that DWVC can provide a worthwhile holiday experience?

      • Hi Gordon,
Thanks for your comment. Preparing an exhibition and confident to sell your DWVC membership? How odd!
Yes they have gone into liquidation and nobody will buy this membership off you, unfortunately but true.
And on top an upfront payment to get it all sorted…
        Very clever.
        Glad you didn’t pay them.
        Kind regards

  5. Mrs Myra Card says:

Was contacted by Carlton Consultants yesterday !7/03/12 with a view to selling my Club Class membership via exhibitions in London and Birmingham. No request for money up front as yet!

    • Dear Myra,
Don’t worry the fee will be explained in the next call then! Because they won’t do it for free and need “security” you want to sell.
      We’ve been there before.
Don’t pay a penny, there is no buyer for the membership.
Let us send you information by email and see if we can help you further.
      Kind regards

I have been called recently and again today from Lucy at carlton consultants. I was told they have sold my membership to Club Class. £9,500 very tempting I told her I am not allowed to sell my membership. she said you bought it so you can sell it, it is like buying a car, you can sell that anytime. She told me it would not cost us anything. This is the fourth company who have rung us it is so annoying and they should be shot at dawn.I obviously checked with club class who have said it is a scam, but someone desperate for moey could fall for it, she is ringing back on monday anyone any idea of how I can shop them.

  7. Tina says:

We were contacted by Carlton Consultants last night, saying they had a buyer for our Club Class membership. They new all our details and that we hadnt used the membership in the 5 years we have had it, are they part of Club Class? They said they had a Mr & Mrs Johnson that wanted to buy and were offering £8700. which would complete in 4-6 weeks, And yes they would need a retainer of £1497. Figured it was a scam!!!!

    • Roger says:

Hi Tina had exactly the same phone call last week, same offer and the ficticious Mr and Mrs Johnson. I don,t know how these people can sleep at night

    • Mark says:

Had that one, than thay tell you that Mr & Mrs Johnson Finnace has fallen through, but if you pay a holiday club that thay deal with ,than thay will sell the membership.

  9. Marion says:

My father was approached yesterday by Carlton Consultants who advised the same as above. Buyer for about £9700 for Club Class Holidays Membership and even gives buyers name. As my father is 80 this amount always seems so very attractive and he has been approached many times and has fallen victim to this type of scam before, but as the salesmen always sound so genuine he can readily be taken in. Fortunately he has asked me to look into this and I found all this information on this website. I keep telling him timeshares are worthless and if he is cold called and they want money to ignore them. Sine starting to type this I have receievd a call from someone called Alan Johnstone who seemed very likeable to my father has just turned nasty when I said we were not interested. How can we stop these people calling??. Marion

  10. Richard says:

Just been called by Heather at Carlton Consultants in Newport they have given me a contact number of 01983 898384, phoned it back and it goes to a voicemail that doesn’t even mention the company name. They seem to use the wording retention fee instead of indemnity fee. I asked where they got my details and they said that due to me not using my Club class membership for a while it goes on an inactive site that these companies can view, is this right or has there been hacking of systems?

  11. Lorraine says:

I have just been contacted by Carlton consultants and as I had written off the money paid over 10 years ago for my Club Class membership I was a bit up set for it all to be brought up again. It does sound so tempting and the people who contact you sound honest. Exactly the same as above, sold my memebership for £8800 and wanted a £1400 fee to secure the buyers. There must be a way to get these people stopped. Where are they getting our numbers from?

  12. steve finch says:

Hi I was called to-day by Carlton Consultants and told that they had a buyer for my USA based Time Share Samantha Jones was given as the name of the caller and I was told that £6000 had been offered for my membership. This has to be a joke as currently the Resort Owners are asking only $4000. The other contact details match those already posted.

  13. Elaine says:

We have been approached by Carton Consultants to purchase our Club Class membership. First contact advised us we were likely to receive up to £9000 with no fee to us – we obviously expressed an interest as we only learnt last year that we were still members of Club Class (advised by Club Class themselves) where we thought we had only bought into a 3 year membership. Second contact from Carlton Consultants was to advise they had a buyer for our membership and could we send them £1400 fee which was returnable on completion of the transfer of ownership. When my husband enquired if this could be deducted from the purchase fee he was advised this was their guarantee in case we decided to pull out of the deal and was fully refundable on completion. Obviously with all the scams that you hear about these days we will not be sending this money and have advised the lady who called we are quite happy for them to take their fee from the proceeds of sale. Watch this space to see if we hear any more!!!

  14. Chrissie says:

I have just had a telephone call a few minutes ago from Carlton Consultants offering to buy our Timeshare. They are confirming by email and going to ring me tomorrow apparently. I decided to do a bit of digging and found this website so will have no hesitation in telling them where to go.

  15. Janet says:

We have already been scammed by two timeshare re-sale companies – Blue Horizons and Half Moon Holdings. We contacted our credit card company and they have given us the impression that they will get the money refunded from Blue Horizons at least (although we haven’t got it yet). During the last few weeks we have been contacted on numerous occasions by Carlton Consultants with offers of between £8000 and £9000 for our Club Class Membership. We explained that we had already been offered money from Half Moon Holdings for this membership and that it was looking like a scam as the sale fell through (not surprisingly) and according to the terms and conditions we now have to allow them 12 months to give us another offer. Carlton Consultants said that they could get the money back from Half Moon Holdings for us, then they would buy the Club Class membership. Of course, they wanted money up front! As we have already been victims of a scam and we were aware of this website, we had the good sense to do some investigating this time. Thank you to this web site – we will not be taken in again.
    Janet and Nick D’Anzi

Hi has anyone heard of Southern Resort Solutions? They say they have a buyer for my DWVC membership. Surprise surprise they need some money up front for a “liability insurance”.
