Several “new” legal advisors are showing up this week with a cold call campaign to timeshare consumers in order to recuperate their money through the Spanish Courts.
One of these so called lawyers is the office from UK Lawyers in Spain, allegedly based in Marbella on the Costa del Sol.
They cold call consumers with the story that by paying around the £1000 they can recover money which is held by the government through a court case against for example Cashback Sales and Administration.
In order to make their dubious activities look real and professional they send several documents to the consumer, in Spanish and with stamps from the courthouse in Malaga. It is made clear in these letters that the government has appointed a notary called Silva Freitas who on her turn is working with UKLAWYERSINSPAIN and contacting the consumers to bring them the good news.
To get around £10.000 transferred all they have to do is pay for the legal fees and notary fees, and there you go, the government will release the money!
Investigating this company a little bit further we start with the website.
The website http://www.uklawyersinspain.com/ was registered on the 7th of March 2012 and the contact details displayed are an address: Avda. Ricardo Soriano 29 4B, 29601 Marbella / España, a telephone number: 0034 690228048 (mobile) and a fax: 0034 951238051
The fax number actually matches up with the fax number of another lawyer’s office, Alondra y Calinda in Valencia, about we also wrote a blog: http://wp.me/p1kmoi-na
So that is very surprising as a fax is either based in Marbella or in Valencia but in both places separated by around 500 kilometers? Don’t think so!
On top of that, Alondra y Calinda is clearly connected to Galans Sanz a very dubious lawyer’s office which also has an alert on our blog: http://wp.me/p1kmoi-hf
Going back to the http://www.uklawyersinspain.com/ there is a lot of information on the site, including the names and pictures of the supposed lawyers.
What does lack is real information such as lawyer’s registration numbers and company registration number which is simple information for a lawyer’s office in Spain.
Cold calling from a lawyer’s office is something regulated by Spanish Law and actually NOT allowed. Of course these people pretend to be calling on behalf of government and notary orders, but where did the consumer’s information come from?
Paying upfront fees to a Notary account who neither seems to have a registration number on her paperwork, is also very unusual as normally court fees and notary fees are taken of the final sum of money to be paid out to the people involved.
Have you been called by these English Lawyers in Spain / UKlawyersinSpain ?
