Have you been called yet by Holiday Letting & Sales for a resale offer?

A new cold caller alert goes out for a company called Holiday letting & Sales. But there seems to be a slight mix up with names as they also present themselves as Direct Letting & Sales or Holiday Letting Direct.

That might be a result of the numerous name changes that the staff has undergone and they now don’t know who they should be saying they are.

For us it seems clear though, the above are one and the same as Holiday Rentals Direct! (https://mindtimeshare.me/?s=holiday+rentals+direct)

The website from Holiday Letting & Sales Ltd is http://www.lettingsdirect.eu and was registered in December 2011. But the website is not about Timeshare sales at all, it is a rental website for Holiday Accommodation.

Not sure how that adds up, but maybe the simple explanation is that Holiday Rentals Direct – HRD has such bad reputation on the web and numerous refund claims running, that the change of name had to be done without further delay.

The address of Holiday letting & Sales is a post box Apartado Correos No. 66, Torrox Sur 1, 29793,Torrox, Malaga, Spain. And the telephone number: 0034 952 547 124

No email Address.

There is one thing though that doesn’t change: The Upfront Fee Request!

The cold calling agent from Holiday Letting and Sales explains they want to buy the timeshare off the consumer as they have a client waiting, but in order to do this they need a security bond of £1500

Same story all over again, just a different twist in company name…

We are still waiting for a consumer to step forward about a successful sale with Holiday Rentals Direct, hundreds did step forward to say they paid money and the sale fell through and HRD did not refund..

Have you been called by Holiday Letting & Sales or Holiday Letting Direct from Spanish phone +34 952547124 ? Please let us know!

  1. 17/05/2013 Received from Customer D.

About a year ago I was contacted by Holiday Lettings and sales with an offer to sell my time share. I stupidly paid the upfront payment and was strung along for several months. At the end of the year after I was told that the deal with the client had fallen through I wrote and requested my money back. I heard nothing further so having scanned the internet I wrote to Alberto who gave me some advice as to what to do. I contacted my credit card company and I am pleased to say that they refunded my money within a matter of a month or two.

  2. Alan says:

We were contacted July 2012 with sales pitch for our timeshare with Anfi in Gran Canaria which we had decided to sell in May of that year, with an offer of more than £1000 over what we had been advised as the selling price, we tried to bite their hand off but they sc***** us instead, by being given 1800 euros by us as a security deposit. We have now been called today 07/02/2013 by a female ( HELEN ) from Hacienda who could not give us a phone number or an E-mail address for them to tell us they were unable to pay a refund into our account as the card date has run out. We contacted nobody about the sc** in the first place so how could we be getting a refund ? We suspected another scam so therefore gave them a savings account number which cannot be withdrawn from without a signature by us, we are not holding our breath awaiting a refund, we did give them our E-mail address as they said they would contact us within 14 days. I will post if we get a refund by we very much doubt it.

Like others I fell for the scam and it cost me €1300.00. The man I spoke to was called Ross Clarke and he gave me the telephone number and address that has already been mentioned previously.

  6. Louise says:

Has any successfully got their Money as I have just paid the 1400 euro and just wanted to know if I could get my money back

I was contacted by Janet @ this company

  7. Suzanne says:

I have just been scammed by this company, I feel so stupid as I was scammed when I bought the hoiliday club membership in the first place. I was called by someone called Tom Broadley from Holiday Lets, same phone number. He had been trying to contact me for several weeks but I was avoiding the call as I had been approached last year by someone else asking for an upfront fee. I explained straight away that I was not willing to put up any money upfront to sell my membership and he said that all I would have to pay was a fee of 16.95 E which was to pay for a courier to bring the documents to me to sign and pick them up again, which sounded feasable to me. I stupidly paid the fee by credit card, he assured me that I was covered by my credit card company if anything went amiss and that he didn’t even want the security code. Upon checking my credit card statement I found that they have actually taken £1379.35 from my card. Of course no courier or documents have arrived at my house either.

I have contacted my credit card company who say that they cannot do anything unless I have something in writing to say that the company has taken more money than was authorised, which obviously I haven’t got as it was all done over the phone.

I have reported this fraud to the police.

  8. Hits says:

I also got the same type of phone call on 29th July 2012 from a Matthew Murdock from a Holiday Lettings on the contact no 00 34 952 547127. I was rather fortunate not to give any money.

My story is that he called saying he could sell my timeshare for the amount I wanted as he already had a buyer. Fortunately, after a brief short period of excitement, I got myself together and asked him how much money he was going to ask for upfront as I’d heard of too many dodgy companies asking for money up front. He promised me he wouldn’t want any upfront until sold.

Anyway he called again a few days later (by which time I had fortunately googled the company name and seen some of these blog updates). He told me he could sell my timeshare right away – I told him that his company was really dodgy and a rip off and I told him about blogs like this – his confident voice started stuttering and he said he’ll call me back in 15mins – which he did. He called me back to say mindtimeshare is run by a dodgy person – he gave a name which i cannot remember – this call went on for 10 minutes where I gave him a lot of abuse and then left it that if he really was real then send me a cheque and I’ll look after him and his expenses. He told me told contact him if I want to sell it still.

Looks like I’ll be waiting a long time for a cheque…..I think its time to scrap my timeshare for zero…..

  9. TERRY says:

i have it seems been sca**** by holiday homes direct eu 07/05/2012 unfortunatley i gave them the 1395 euros
as they had a £4000 buyer , no response after numerous e mails and phone calls I am now in dispute with them through my bank

  10. Marion says:

It would appear that we too have been sc***** by these people. We paid 900 euros to them on our credit card. We got a phone call about 10 days later from their “legal department” to say that everything was going to plan. We heard nothing since, and then found this web site. We have contacted our CC company to see if we can get our money refunded and are awaiting a decision. Today I received a phone call from them saying that they had requested full payment now from the buyers. I was in a state of shock and didn’t know what to say. Why are they still in touch with us when they’ve a;ready got 900 euros from us!! We thought that we were being very careful, – we even opened a new bank account with no money in it, ready to receive the money from them, so that they could not empty our bank account!
Where do we go from here??

  11. Jonathan says:

Yep, just had exactly the same thing £8000 for my timeshare but needed £1395 for ‘taxes’ which would be refunded with my bankers draft within 14 days. At the moment they are expecting me to call back with my credit card details. Little do they know…

  12. carina says:

Talk about hard sell!!! I to have been contacted yesterday and today asking me to sell my timeshare for £14000 for a wedding present to clients looking to buy my anfi apartment !! omg
what rang alarm bells was when they asked for a retainer fee until sale was completed of £1995
I rung anfi who i purchased my timeshare from and they advised me it was a sc**!! and their are a few companies running under the same name holiday lettings and sales even the number was the same 0034952547124 ! A Holly Spence from TS world refered me to this company even on saying we didnt want to sell yesterday, then today Keith from Holiday lettings phoned again! to say other clients were interested!!! he was so smooth and I began to be drawn in ! as I havent that much left to pay on my timeshare so the offer they made was fantastic !! Hes calling again tommorow to see if I want to go ahead with the deal ! (unaware that ive found this website)I will certainly not be selling anything to them!!! and I advise anyone to do the same. He even explained that we could still holiday this year! as i’d already booked for september this I thought very strange also !! dont be taken in by these sca*****!!!! He will get different me on the phone tommorrow if he calls back which im sure he will !!

  13. Davieg says:

I have been contacted several times over the last five days from Roy Harding of Holiday Lettings and Sales. Yesterday I had enough and asked hime to put something in writing to confirm his offer and I would then decide what to do….. Here is the email which I got from him for anyone that is interested. Needless to say I will not be proceeding with his generous offer.

Not sure I’ve found this blog in time, had a call from Brian on Tuesday to say my points had now come to the top of the list, following day back on the phone to say had a buyer and talked me through the process….all very plausible. Against better judgement and because of the rush I provided CC details, now that I have sight of who they are then I can see it’s a con….now to see if my CC company will reimburse….

    • louise says:

      Hi Matt,
I too am trying to get refund from credit card company. I was told by holiday lettings that credit cards worked by security digits or signature to get payment, and they worked on signature. However they took payment without either and credit card company tell me companies dont need either, just long number across front of card. It is still ongoing after 4 weeks. Have asked holiday lettings for refund also. Lets see what happens.

  15. bob says:

I have been contacted with an offer for my timeshare via this company and have not rang the number given as Ihave been c***** once before by a firm called Visions of the world.(bob)

  16. mary says:

The address I have for this company is different from the rest but the phone number is the same!
I have contacted my bank to stop the £600 fee, but now am worried if they have my IBAN number will they empty my bank account!..

  17. mary says:

I have been contacted by this company as well, I have an email address for them ; holidayrentals direct.eu .. I have received an email from them with all their bank details,.. How can I stop my holding fee from being process if this is a c**!

  18. Pete says:

Thank heavens for finding this web site. We have had numerous calls from holiday lettings offering to buy our time share as long as we sent a 1,300euro retainer. They are very good at at talking the talk and if i haddent found this site i would have been tempted. Is there actually a site out there who buy these dreaded time shares that doesnt want to s*** you, i dont think so. Thanks again for this warning. Pete.

  19. Ernie says:

I have been contacted by a company called universal travel market who say they have a customer for my club class membership but they want me to send them £1250 what do you think

  20. purcelle says:

I’ve been called by three different people for Holiday Lettings and Sales and have had 3 different offers to buy our DWVC holiday membership – for £6500, £9500 and this morning for £7500. After a whole load of babble explaining that they have a buyer ready – but only for TWO days….and why it cannot be a scam etc..the lady left it with me to consider…I’d have to pay 1100 euros as a retainer depositi thingy before receiving any money from them….I was beginning to believe them – until coming across this website! It would be great to be able to sell this horrid holiday membership – which I’m still paying for as I had to take out a loan to pay for it in 2008. I’ve never used the membership as I cannot afford the prices and haven’t even been on holiday since I bought the membership – Oh to get rid of this would be great!

  21. Mike says:

We have similarly been contacted by Holiday Lettings & Sales over the period of the last month.
They sounded very professional and credible.
Two weeks ago they had a buyer for our holiday club membership. My wife stalled them by saying she would need to verify with myself. We heard nothing for two weeks when another lady from the same company phoned to say they had a buyer – this time it was two thousand pounds sterling more!
Needless to say the sting in the tale is the security bond / retainer. On probing & challenging this about the risks around the buyer defaulting there was no discenible change in tone or nervousness in the lady’s tone etc. As she stated we were safe from any fraund if we paid by credit card!
I asked for something in wirting from them and received an email within an hour from Holiday Letting and Sales [admin@lettingsdirect.eu].
At this point I researched the company and was directed to this site.
Needless to say we have declined their “generous offer”
If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. I don’t know how the people who contact you live with their conscience. Caveat Emptor (or in this case the seller, who buys something that mat never come to fruition)!

  22. Virginia says:

I was contacted recently by Lettings Direct – a woman called Holly James. Very persistent – said she had Eastern European clients desperate to buy my timeshare. Justified the request for £1200 up front by telling me this was to lock me in to the sale and prevent me from accepting a higher offer elsewhere when they had already undertaken legal work in relation to the sale, and that it was because they made no charge for the sale. I asked why they would charge me given they had contacted me on behalf of a customers allegedly keen to buy something from me. Surely the customer soliciting their services would be the people to pay a fee. No answer – but switched to saying that because they did not accept cheque payments but card payment over the phone this gave me consumer protection. I told her that giving my card details over a phone to someone I had never met, and had sent me nothing more than a link to a dodgy looking website, seemed very far from a safe business transaction and had all the hallmarks of a scam. The friendly chatty tone that had hitherto predominated ceased abruptly – but on the plus side so did the call, and she has not bothered me again

  23. Karel says:

We were contacted by Jean Vandamme (Holiday Lettings and Sales) on 30th may 2012.
Same story … we have an offer of 9000 euro but have to pay first 1500 eur by visa of mastercard.
Never do this !!! They are just thiefs !!!

  24. Luke says:

As many postings above we had a call offering £11,000+ for a membership bought over 12 years ago (Timelinx holiday club) which was a significant “profit” on what we payed. It was all a rush due to them having a client waiting to re-buy our membership. We were asked to deposit credit details against us not returning the original membership package upon completion of sale (almost £1200) and a good will gesture to the “buyer”. With regret we did and found it was actually drawn against the card in the next 24 hours, the only saving grace was our bank has been fantastic and with one phone call to them, they had cancelled and have returned the payment to our account.
They trade on rushing people before they have had a chance to think properly and through the haze of pound signs, saying they have a buyer committed and need to complete with haste.
When they post you contract details I guarantee it will be full of clause not mentioned during the phone call(s).
Incidentally I have heard nothing since despite an imminent sale to complete immediately!!!!
If you are in a position to be offered the opportunity to sell yours,
Why would somebody want to resell a product you have no doubt found not to work since you got your given the publicity now surrounding these scams.
Why not just sell them new membership – because people are now aware!!
As mentioned before they are trading against people wishing to get rid of a product they are now embarrassed to mention they own AND at a potential profit. Myself included but i class myself fortunate to have got out and had my money refunded, others may not be as fortunate.
    I only have 4 more words on the subject;

  25. ernie says:

was contacted by holiday letting sales onwed.ensday 23rd to say they might have a buyer. on thursday 24th they had a buyer.the normalmrubbish was talked then they asked for payment for insurance. when told there would be no money chaning hands donna james replyed i would not be able to sell my timeshare without handing over money. at this point i put the phone down.once scammed never again.

  26. Tracey says:

So glad I’ve found this website on my search this morning before paying over my £1500 bond. Had a phone call from Hannah on Monday asking if I would like to put my Club Class Holiday membership (the holiday group that keep on scamming) up for sale. As its something that we’ve never used bar the first weeks holiday, & thankfully do not pay yearly fees on I said yes. Then yeserday afternoon I get a call from Tom (very socailable & chatty) saying that he had a buyer for our membership, for £10,200 when you consider I only paid £2,500 10 plus yrs ago you can imagine I was exstatic. He explained how it would all happen, and every time I asked about cost to me he deflected it & carried on with his patter, & then it came I would need to pay a £1500 bond but they would only take that by Visa or Mastercard as that way I would be covered against fraud etc, plus they don’t take the last 3 digits on the back so they can’t use it for anything else etc, etc. I this point I said he would need to talk to my Husband about it all as not being well (I live in chronic pain & therefore function only on a very high amount of pain killers) when it came to paying out money for anything like this he needs to be involved & make the decision. Tom tried to call hubby but couldn’t get hold of him, so rang me back & asked me to explain it all to him & Tom would call this am, which he did, but as I’d not had chance to run the checks hubby & I agreed on last night I deflected him for a couple of hours, & thats when I ended up here!!! BTW my ever wise hubby had said last night if something sounds too good to be true it normally is! I was ever hopeful that he was wrong this time but he wasn’t & so I must say goodbye to my £10,200………………………
Stay wise my time share friends

i was also called by a man from lettings direct who i asked how much do i have to give you upfront he said £1375 i told him i didnt have that amount of cash to hand over he said to borrow it from a family member and he would call back the next day when he rang back i told him i knew he was a scam company and to my surprise he hung up and hasnt rung back julie

  28. simon says:

In my case it was a lady called “Tanja Schmidt” (it was in German, as I am, too) from Holiday Lettings & Sales, “a world wide operating company”, who offered me a resale during their daily sales events. After one day she had a fantastic offer for my timeshare week, of course I had to give her my credit card details for a deposit of 1500€. And even after telling her, that I found her company on mindshare and won´t give her any details, she insisted that the entry here is false, that it´s not her company meant. She gave me this adress to check the company: http://www.lettingsdirect.eu. After 5 minutes of discussing she finally hang up. She was the second cold caller after signing up on http://timeshareverkauf.com/ I was stupid and hoped to get some money back from the timeshare. First caller was from Holiday Rentals Direct: http://www.holidayrentalsdirect.eu/. His name was “Max Felder” and he promised me to find a buyer, too. And he also found a buyer who offered me 8000€ after one day, of course first they needed a deposit of 1395€, too. When I told him that I know he wants to cheat me, he didn´t discuss, just hang up. Both companys have an adress and number in Spain like many others in Torrox. So be aware of this companys and websites. Let´s see when the next one will call…

    • Gerd says:

  29. James says:

On 8th May I also received a call from a lady called Claire Harris at Holiday Lettings & Sales saying they have a definite buyer for our two weeks of timeshare in Club Playa Flores. The price was good (too good) and so the discussion continued over a couple of days. Eventually they asked for a ‘Security Retainer/Deposit’ of EUR1,600. She explained that this was a “legal requirement” in Spain to protect the buyer and that it would be held by a bonded agent. I emailed them back and said I was not prepared to proceed on that basis, pointing out the terms of the recent Timeshare Directive on upfront fees, but would still be willing to sell using a procedure that did not involve upfront fees. I have not heard from them since 🙂

  30. Jag says:

Im one of the people that has paid the insurance retainer (via protected credit card) for 1300 euros and I have now had a contract come through the post selling my timeshare for £7,600. So i tkae it once i send my contract back, they call back and say the sale fell through? Is it worth a gamble?

    • louise says:

Hi, just wondering if you have had any phone call to say sale fallen through, how far down the sale line are you if not.

      • juliepips1 says:

anyone asking for the money upfront is a scam you will lose your insurance money and there is no comeback regards julie

      • dont send them any money its a scam anyone who asks for money upfront is doing so against the law ive been asked for £1,375 but ive also been scammed for £875 for ppi never again will i pay money upfront regards julie xx

  31. Alan says:

Have just been contacted by Viva organisation who have assured me that they can resell my membership in Freedom Vacation for £6000 . This looks like another one to investigate Alberto, they certainly keep coming out of the woodwork! Be aware everyone.

  32. Chris says:

Well, that was quicker than I thought! The day after the Holiday Lettings and Sales initially contacted me they called back saying ‘someone who was interested’ in my timeshare and offered me £13000. After various general discussion they eventually got to the point where they asked for money. This was 1600 euro for a ‘Liability Insurance Retainer’. That was the point at which I started asking about their relationship with Holiday Rentals Direct and Holiday Homes Direct (all at the same address) and was told that they are ‘a different company’, ‘nothing to do with us’, and ‘just happen to be in the same building’. After me asking several more questions, the lady I was speaking to eventual hung up on me after saying that she ‘didn’t like my attitude’. Didn’t like the questions more like!

    • julie says:

i have just been contacted by a woman who says her name is sasha hamlton from universal travel agents in bristol on checking this out i found there is no such company i was then called by a man from http://www.holidaylettings.eu who told me that they are a scam company please be aware of this regards julie

  33. Chris says:

I was called by Holiday Lettings & Sales asking if I wanted them to put my timeshare in one of their auctions. No mention of any up-front fees was made, so I told them I was interested. Did a bit of research and found they had the same address as Holiday Rentals Direct and Holiday Homes Direct so I am now waiting for the ‘we’ve got a definite buyer but you need to pay … ‘ phonecall in a few days time! I will wait and see what happens.
