Newsletter July 2012

Dear All,

July has been a very hot month in Spain but this hasn’t affected the dubious companies out there as it seems as we have received almost a record amount of inquiries.

The blog closed the month with a record amount of visitors, 41.570 people who at some point during the month decided to read our articles.

And over 520 new inquiries arrived at our inbox!

We have to highlight the recently published article about DTMC’s (Discount Travel Membership Club) who seem to have found a way to avoid working by the New Timeshare Directive.

Some marketers of Holiday Clubs such as Voyager Travel, Club Class and the recently launched Break Away Destinations are basically not respecting the new Timeshare Directive, taking deposits and not respecting any kind of cooling off period (by law 14 days).

These companies are pretending to sell holiday clubs which have a duration of less than one year, when in fact their contract indicate that this holiday club membership can continue being used for more than one year, as long as a yearly payment is made, what according to the Timeshare Directive would fall under its legislation.

Have a look at the article through this link: http://wp.me/p1kmoi-v9

Another issue that seems to be going very strong at the moment is the so called Class Action Companies.

If before it was mainly ITRA (http://wp.me/p1kmoi-pe), EFTAG (http://wp.me/p1kmoi-nZ) and Reclaimgc (http://wp.me/p1kmoi-dW), there are now numerous others that also seem to have discovered the business in offering a class action to consumers and invite them over for a meeting. Meetings where apart from a Class Action the consumer will find himself with a sales presentation for yet another Membership in some kind of dubious holiday club and / or an offer for timeshare disposal against payments of large amount of money..

New names we have heard recently is Class Action UK (http://wp.me/p1kmoi-v2), RIOCC (http://wp.me/p1kmoi-ja) and Professional Services International or PSI

If you have been approached by any of these companies or any other that has offered you information about Class Actions, please do let us know.

Anybody heard of Uk based company called Sell My Timeshare and if so what experience have you had with them.

  2. Nigel says:

Re the comment by Charles, I too was contacted by KSM Solutions, a lady called Sophie, who was very convincing, saying they had a buyer willing to pay £8500 for my membership of Club Class ( good luck to them !) with all legal fees to be paid by the buyer, but of course the catch then followed…..I had to pay £1200 on a credit card ,as an insurance retainer ( ? ) that would be returned when I had signed their contract . After more phone calls , I asked for the contract to be sent to me as I would never part with money without reading the legal bits. This was promised to be sent, but surprisingly the phone calls have stopped and no contract has been received!! Another scam I fear. Be warned.

  3. Ike says:

Beware of Summersun Intl. and Blue Chip They are SC** companies, in fact they are proper CR****. They take your money give you NOTHING in return and are very good at requesting a second and third payment after you have made the first one..

  4. charles says:

    Hi Alberto,
I have been contacted by a company called K S M Solutions Ltd.
I was given the usual they have cash buyer.
I let them go through it all then they said they needed a 650 pounds insurance to ensure we handed over the ownership documents.
Please add them to the list.
    Regards,
    Charles

I’ve received yet another threatening letter from CLUB CLASS regarding the none payment.of my annual subscription. It is the same old threats, ( take me to court – sell on my debts onto a recovering comapny etc! I have taken advice from Mr Garcia and his advice is to ignore it as they do not have any legal right to take action. But they are very persistant. Trevor

    • Maralyn says:

I get them about every month and was very tempted to send them the money just to stop getting the harrassing emails, they have also phoned me on a couple of occasions. I am deleting the emails and putting the phone down if I suspect it is them. They are getting no more of my money out of me after reading all the advice from this website. Maralyn

  7. M. de Boer says:

We received a coldcall from RIOCC yesterday, thanks to this website we found out that they can’t be trusted.

  8. Catherine says:

I have been cold called twice now by a company called financial recovery services. They can assess my claim to recover my holiday club costs- or so they say. Tel number in Uk 02071831763. I assumed they were bogus when the nice lady ( called Alex McKenna) told me they were 100% effective in getting money back. Seems they are a type of class action. Has anyone else been contacted by this company?

    • TERRY says:

dont be fooled they have got a fancy web sight dont ask for money first time ,but they will!!
next time ask them to hold on and hold your phone to the radio or teli for a couple of min
i gaurentee they will hang up

      • Cath says:

Another new company has contacted me, a man called Patrick said he was part of the Club class concierge resale team and he could get my money back. He was unable to rell me his full name or the phone number from which he was ringing.I was phoned 3 times on my mobile and on the third time I was left an offensive and very nasty voicemail message . Possibly number of origin is 01784-818355- but not sure as number was blocked. Nasty

  9. Christine Dalton says:

It is to good to be true, if you owe Spanish tax get your solicitor to check it out first. Like this country anyone other than the real ”Tax Man ” would not contact you by phone or email only by post on official letterhead.

  10. SHONA says:

I have been contacted once again by some Spanish lady claiming to be from the Spanish Government saying the people responsible for Simple Timeshare have been arrested and they can give me my money back, sounds so good and genuine until she told me I had to pay the spanish tax before they could issue the cheque!

  11. d.j.sesin says:

Has anyone out there ever actually sold/got rid of their timeshare. If so, HOW??????

    • DANNI WILSON says:

I sold mine on ebay, Make sure your timeshare fees are up to date. I sold it for the cost of the transfer fee only. Yes I made a loss but got my 2 weeks timeshares off my back. Its worth a try.
