Anderson & Crane, the marketing company that cold calls for a disposal meeting

We have seen a lot of these before, and Anderson & Crane are not very different to the previous ones mentioned on our blog.

This company Anderson & Crane, based at Horton House, Exchange Flags, Liverpool, Merseyside L2 3PF, claims to be a marketing company with a “introduction service” between their client and timeshare owners, in order to appoint them for meetings to be held in different places in the UK.

Their website was registered in July 2012, and also states they are a mere marketing company and not the company that will eventually speak to the consumer at the meeting and do an offer for the timeshare.

Anderson & Crane are not registered at the UK Companies House.

So Anderson & Crane is cold calling from the telephone number 0151 601 9768, invites the timeshare owner to a meeting where supposedly they are going to be offered a way out of their timeshare, and this meeting is with another company of which the name is not mentioned on the web or in the confirmation email.

In the confirmation email from Anderson and Crane they do mention about the client “We are working on behalf of a client that specializes in the sale of overseas properties. However, they have also been very successful in assisting people in the disposal of unwanted timeshare or points.”

With the above details we have enough reasons to ask for precaution when dealing with this company as it is certainly not clear what the end purpose of this meeting is.

We suspect it will be a presentation of the overseas properties of this supposed client, and for those who are not interested in the investment a resale service or disposal service will be offered through yet another company.

Up to the consumer if they really want to “waste” their time on this, as the promised straight forward offer most probably won’t be as straight forward as promised by phone!

Have you been called by Anderson and Crane from 01516019768 and invited to a meeting? Please let us know by email to or place a comment on the blog.

My mother and I have just returned from a meeting with Ecoresorts in Bristol, which was arranged by Anderson and Crane. Having previously cancellled an appointment after reading comments on the internet, she was assured by a representative of A&C that the client she was meeting would be able to purchase her timeshare. Mum asked if the client was Ecoresorts as she had been previously told,(and we had researched the company, and knew that they invest money, not buy or dispose of timeshares) and she was assured that it was not.
Massive pack of lies and a total waste of time…..
In Fairness to Ecoresorts, they immediately told us that we had been misinformed and wrote out a letter of complaint for us listing what we had been told by A&C. They did not even try to sell us anything as they could see that my Mum was very ill and only wanting to dispose of her timeshare.
I’m absolutely disgusted with Anderson and Crane, particularly because my mum is very sick and hasn’t been out of the house for weeks due to her ilness, and they were aware of this and still pushed for her to waste her time.
I am posting this message to warn others not to waste their time if they simply want to sell / dispose of a timeshare, so at least some good can come from the ‘waste’ of time.

Hello to all other posters on this wall.

Recently my sister-in-law was cold contacted by ‘Anderson & Crane’ with regards to disposing of her and my brothers timeshare points, because my wife and I also have points she gave them my contact details as well, they in turn phoned and gave me their spiel.

My sister-in-law had already agreed to a meeting with their ‘client’ as yet not named so because they where paying travel costs and we wouldn’t be out of pocket we thought what the hell we’ve nothing to lose except time so we agreed as well, the appointment was made for 14:00 on 27/10/12 at 220 Ashley Road, Hale, Cheshire, WA15 9SR the e-mail had no information as to who we would be meeting other than their ‘client’.

For my brother and his wife it was a 300 mile round trip and about 100 for us.

The meeting turned out to be with a company called ‘ecoresorts sales limited’ our meeting was with a chap , all very easy to start with usual sales technique, get to know something about your target before going into sales pitch.

Deal 1 – they can help rid you of your timeshare by referring you to another company called -‘Abitus’ – who would transfer the – points / week(s) – into another persons or company name this would cost £2495.00 and just for attending the meeting ‘ecoresorts’ would give a £500 voucher towards the cost and you would pay the remaining £2000 later when the deal was done either by a one off payment or an agreed payment plan.

Deal 2 – using either a cash investment or equity in your home, you can – invest – in an eco building project in the Dominican Republic called ‘The Sanctuary Luxury Spa & Eco Resort’, the cost of this is around £36k, the second mortgage is organized by yet another company, not yet named but who are FSA accredited.

This will run for three years at which time you will get your money back plus interest, about 7% during this three year period the second mortgage is paid for by I believe ‘Sanctuary’ by depositing the funds into your account prior to it being withdrawn by the lender under a Direct Debit on a usual monthly basis, all the fees are also paid for on your behalf, there is the option to continue your investment beyond the the three year period.

If you opt for Deal 2 the cost of transferring the points is covered by ‘ecoresorts sales limited’ and you also get a £2000.00 payment as well, very nice thank you.

There is no cash outlay at the first meeting, if you want to take it further the sales advisor comes to your home at an agreed time & date to drop off a – draft – copy of the contract while they arrange for the financial company to contact you for further info’ before sourcing the cheapest second mortgage they can find for you, again there is not name for this company, the reason is they use around five or six different companies and at this point they can’t say which one will be able to obtain the best deal for you.

I have tried to research ‘ecoresorts sales limited’ I can only find minimal info’ the company has by all accounts been on the go for four or five years although I am having difficulty finding any information on that period, however since March of 2012 the company was broken up and is now franchised, the branch in Hale is franchised to a guy called ‘Mark Smith’, the record at company house is dormant and I can find no financial records either, for the franchise in Hale it says financial records are not due until December 2012, it would also appear ‘ecoresorts sales limited’ are registered in the Caymen Islands for tax purposes.

At this point my wife and I nor my brother and his wife have decided whether or not to fully commit to this ‘investment’ but for us it sounds a bit like “if it sounds too good to be true then it usually is” the whole investment is supposed to cost you nothing and you make you money from it quite a good return 7% you can’t get anything like that with the banks right now.

My feeling at present is, what do ecoresorts actually do besides pull different companies and potential investors together, there appears to be a lot of different fingers in this pie, just a note for you, we are not looking at this through rose tinted glasses and £ signs we are having the contracts looked at by lawyers and independent financial advisers.

I hope this sheds some light on how this all works, however I am by no means an expert and am just recalling what I can remember from the discussions and presentations I / we’ve had between ourselves and ‘ecoresorts sales ltd’ and I may have some information wrong, if you decide to attend a presentation and subsequently invest it is your decision and your decision only and I accept no responsibility whatsoever for any outcomes whether good or bad you may end up with.

Attended one of their meetings. Just wondered which path you took. We are still considering. As you say sounds too good to be true. Still trying to find more information.

      • Bryan says:

My wife and I have decided not to proceed any further at this time.

This is due to our personal circumstances and not for any other reasons we have read on any of these blog sites.

  3. Dobson says:

Contacted by this Company recently. Has anyone ever been to one of the meetings?

  4. Ron says:

I was contacted ‘cold’ this week by A&C but so far no follow-up call. Thanks to you guys I am well prepared. Anyone have a suggestion as to who to use to sell timeshare in Spain ?

  5. Jan says:

And they can’t be contacted by email through their website – when you click send there is no link. Very odd way for a genuine company to do business don’t you think?

A relative received a cold call last week and thefollow up email. No intention to attend an introductory meeting but have a whole load of questions to ask them when they call back tomorrow. Should be interesting. Will keep you posted.

  6. Jeffrey says:

Anderson and crane contacted me yesterday regarding disposal of my Timeshare.
Much the same patter as the The Soutions group offering the same service.
No mention of money at this stage bur i am sure it will come.
Our Timeshare is in the USA.
Does anyone know of reliable or reputable Timeshare disposal over there?
So far i haven’t parted with any money but the claims they make can be irresistable at times.
    Any advice would be welcome.

  7. Archie says:

Hi, I received a telephone call from a Maggie Bolton from Anderson & Crane to a meeting in Edinburgh regarding the disposal of our timeshare, she said her clients will pay up to £100 for expenses just to attend the meeting, I think this is just another sc**, she was very convincing, please be aware, she will be calling on other clients in the Glasgow and Edinburgh area, I don’t think we are going to have anything to do with this company, what do others think. She will be calling us back on Thursday, she sent me an email about the company.

  8. Roddy says:

Very interesting. According to the website they are a marketing company :-

“we are great at Email marketing, graphic design, online marketing, SEO, photography, direct marketing, smart phone apps, telephone marketing, web development and much more…..”

Not very professional as they a couple of spelling mistakes and talk about them being a company called “Duncan & Forbes” . Looks like the “Find and Replace” while knocking up the website failed or were they “Duncan & Forbes” who don’t much of a internet profile either.
