Claims companies there are many, and to add one more to the list we have Milestone Data.
Milestone Data is cold calling Timeshare Consumers and mainly those who own Memberships in Discount Clubs such as DWVC or Club Class.
They actually know everything about the Timeshare Consumer and his Membership which on itself is not a good sign. What happened to Data Protection?
Milestone Data registered their website http://www.milestonedata.co.uk on the 28th of January 2013
The website is though not directed to Consumers as such but more for companies who are looking for Client Data and Leads in relation to PPI and Loans.
There is no UK Companies House Registration Number for Milestone Data or an address of their offices. The contact details on the web are an email address; email@example.com a Fax number 0203 004 1897 and a London telephone number 0203 608 6668
Our first researches have shown connections with at least 4 other dubious companies that have been active recently, cold callers with offers to claim on behalf of the consumer for a substantial upfront fee.
On the cold call Milestone Data explains to the Consumer they can help with recovering the money paid for the Membership and they follow this call up with an email.
In the paperwork they send they make it clear it is not actually them that are going to process the claim but a third party company! So this is becoming rather confusing! First of all Milestone Data without a known address or company registration cold calls the consumer and then a third party company of which the name is NOT mentioned will follow up.
Do you really want to send your paperwork and personal details to all these mystery companies and people?
There is an address though on the paperwork, which has all the signs of being a post forwarding address: 145 – 157 St Johns Street, London EC1V 4PW
The document is called “Winning the war against mis-sold Holiday Club Memberships” but it is not really clear how they pretend to win this war for the consumer or if they are going to charge a ridiculous amount for a claim under the Section 75 which the consumer can do for free except for the cost of a stamp!
