Milestone Data a cold calling claims Company with dubious connections.

Claims companies there are many, and to add one more to the list we have Milestone Data.

Milestone Data is cold calling Timeshare Consumers and mainly those who own Memberships in Discount Clubs such as DWVC or Club Class.

They actually know everything about the Timeshare Consumer and his Membership which on itself is not a good sign. What happened to Data Protection?

Milestone Data registered their website http://www.milestonedata.co.uk  on the 28th of January 2013

The website is though not directed to Consumers as such but more for companies who are looking for Client Data and Leads in relation to PPI and Loans.

There is no UK Companies House Registration Number for Milestone Data or an address of their offices. The contact details on the web are an email address; enquiries@milestonedata.co.uk a Fax number 0203 004 1897 and a London telephone number 0203 608 6668

Our first researches have shown connections with at least 4 other dubious companies that have been active recently, cold callers with offers to claim on behalf of the consumer for a substantial upfront fee.

On the cold call Milestone Data explains to the Consumer they can help with recovering the money paid for the Membership and they follow this call up with an email.

In the paperwork they send they make it clear it is not actually them that are going to process the claim but a third party company! So this is becoming rather confusing! First of all Milestone Data without a known address or company registration cold calls the consumer and then a third party company of which the name is NOT mentioned will follow up.

Do you really want to send your paperwork and personal details to all these mystery companies and people?

There is an address though on the paperwork, which has all the signs of being a post forwarding address: 145 – 157 St Johns Street, London EC1V 4PW

The document is called “Winning the war against mis-sold Holiday Club Memberships” but it is not really clear how they pretend to win this war for the consumer or if they are going to charge a ridiculous amount for a claim under the Section 75 which the consumer can do for free except for the cost of a stamp!

I too have been cold called by these people a very plausable and pleasant lady called Amanda. I told her I was very suspicious of such calls having received so many in the past from people who were trying to con me. I further told her I would not have any dealings with her company until I had been able to do some checks. She was sympathetic to this and offered to email me some information about the company which I could check out and then she would ring back in a few days. I agreed to this and subsequently received information by email. The information received was very basic stating they wanted to see copies of documentation which they would pass to there agents (no indication of who they are) who would assess whether I had a case. No mention of upfront fees but I feel sure once they have decided I have a case this demand will follow.

Further checks I have made show this company is not registered at companies House and the address given appears to be an accommodation address.

I await the return call with interest.

    Geoff

I too have been contacted by Milestonedata today by a somewhat convincing sounding young lady! I asked if she was based in the UK or otherwise – she confirmed UK. I asked how she had acquired my ex-directory telephone number – she said it was on a DWVC database. However despite her telling me that she would e-mail me the company details and the way they process Cashback recovery, I have heard nothing! Possibly because I explained that I have worked for Solicitors over the past 50 years!

I have just had the call from a very measured, calm and reassurung in a way that makes you flesh creep lady from this very company. A quick search revealed that the address quoted above is indeed a mail forwarding company called London Presence. Isn’t it odd that they have a phone number but when you do a 1471 you find the number they rang from was withheld.

is there no end to these companies? Spain must be awash with them! or are there STILL some poor benighted owners who have not yet been caught in the trap? I note there is now a deficiency of Time-share Sales adverts in the Sunday newspapers, formerly a happy hunting ground thereof.

    • Hi Marrion,
It is indeed very frustrating to see that on a daily basis new ones appear and with new stories and twists to make people pay for nothing..
The press is also learning from all this and I am glad there are less adds.
