Have you been contacted by Carlton Hill Consumer Action Group for a refund claim?

Carlton Hill is a new claims company that has started recently with a cold call campaign. They present themselves as a “Consumer Action Group” made up by retired and semi-retired experts within banking, financial and law. Carlton Hill

In the cold call, the timeshare consumer is informed about the services Carlton Hill Consumer Action Group offers. They can do a Credit Card refund claim on behalf of the consumer.

In order to do this claim, they actually charge a “flat fee”.  This fee starts around £400 and for additional claims the consumer would pay another £100. This has to be paid upfront though which questions their slogan “No Win No Fee”

Carlton Hill Consumer Action Group has a website carltonhill.net which was registered on the 18th of January 2013

Although the website provides a lot of information about claims, what they do, what they charge etc. there is actually no company information at all!

No Telephone number, no Company Address, nothing. If people want to contact them after looking at the web they can do this by filling in a form or emailing info@carltonhill.net or admin@carltonhill.net

Once the consumer has been contacted for the first time, the agent from Carlton Hill sends information through by email. An impressive file that looks as if they have it all perfectly tied up.

There is even an address and a phone number for Carlton Hill:

Finance House 1052 – 1054 Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, BH7 6DS

And Telephone 02380 970264

But the documents are confusing! In the agreement it is made clear that the charges are a 25% plus VAT over the awarded amount of money AFTER receiving this in the bank account. It is made very clear that the consumer should pay the 25% as soon as they receive there fund.

But the cover letter to the consumer does not mention the 25% at all and goes on about the Flat Rate to be paid upfront!

So what are you paying? A flat fee upfront or a 25% plus VAT on the end, or both?

Carlton Hill claims to be complying with the Data Protection Law, but how does a cold call fit into that statement? As a matter of fact they go as far as mentioning in their paperwork that a Company’s privacy policy can be found on the Company’s website www.essentialclaim.com

Essential Claim? Where do they come from? Looking at their web they don’t seem to have anything to do with Carlton Hill Consumer Action Group…so what happened here?

With the above research and finding, we certainly do not think it is recommendable to use this company and consumers

If you have been contacted by Carlton Hill from 02380970264 in Bournemouth, then please let us know. You can email us at customercare@mindtimeshare.com or place a comment here.

Carlton Hill have been phoning me for several months, even tho I told them I was having radiotherapy!!!!
They claim that they do not ask for a flat fee, only a % of the money refunded. I’m seriously tempted.
They have sent a claim pack several times!!!!!!

Has anyone ever had any ££ back?

Has anyone had any dealings with Carlton consumer action group? Are they a scam? my elderly father has been cold called by them advising that they can claim all the money back that he was scammed out of by club class concierge.

  4. Ian Black says:

I would just like to note that as the Managing Director of Consumer Action, a claims management company also based in Bournemouth, we are in no way associated with this company. Our website has all of our contact information and no upfront fee is charged for our services. Please do not think there is any connection in any way.

Essential Claim are on the ‘Essential Group’ website. Essential Group also traded as Euromarketing, Capital Marketing & Oak Tree Consultants – all of which did Timeshare Resale. Search for those trading names for horror stories, so i wouldnt trust Essential Claim (or Carlton Hill) at all.

  6. David says:

That phone number is a Southampton code, not Bournemouth, so where is their office, I wonder?
