Continent Connections has been busy lately with sending out Membership fees requests to all their members.
Slight problem though is that a lot of these “members” are not even aware of this membership and less of the obligation to pay the annual fee!
So what has happened here?
From what we understand, there are not many members of Continent Connections Discount Holiday Club that actually bought into this membership just from scratch.
The story is that most of the consumers were dealing with a dubious resale company such as Viva Connect, paid them an upfront fee for a resale that was almost completed…but then the sale fell through.
Continent Connections then contacted the Timeshare consumer and claimed to have buyers for Holiday Memberships and if the Timeshare owner would change his timeshare into a Continent Connections membership, the sale would be imminent.
Some Timeshare Owners were not even mentioned a membership change and simply asked for 1890€ admin fees or taxes!
After paying close to 1900€ for this change of membership, after having paid already around 1400€ to the resale company the timeshare owner receives a membership certificate for Continent Connections and never hears again about a resale.
Well “never” that is up till recently when the membership fee requests have been received and in a slightly “insisting” manner people are urged to pay these fees or will be taken to court!
They also offer the possibility of cancelling the membership by paying £297.
Sadly enough it seems that they are targeting a lot of elderly Timeshare owners and the tone of the correspondence is of such that we are afraid a lot of consumers have paid the fees in order to avoid problems.
Looking at the website of Continent Connections www.continentconnections.com there is no mention at all about resales or anything related to timeshare.

My Mother in Law has also received a very threatening letter from Continent Connections with a threat of debt recovery action if she doesn`t pay £198. She is 87 and very vulnerable and the letter has frightened her. These people are unscrupulous she has no record of joining the club.
We have decided to ignore the letter.
I have also had a request for money which I have ignored

another request from cc dated June 2014 asking for annual membership fee .also threatening court action . No intention of paying but what is the exact situation regarding this company now
25th july. A belated input re Continent connections. This is exactlly what happened to us : Club class/Club class concierge/ Contnent Connections. (Like a game of catch only we were the ones who have been caught). We have never been able to arrange a suitable holiday so when we recently had a request for our annual membership of £99 I rang up to to cancel our membership the young lady was very polite and said she would arrange it. We then received a demand for £297 (3 years membership). We do not intend paying this so we would would be grateful for you advice .My wife and I are both 81 and not at all confident of travelling any distance.Neither are we in the categorie of pensioner who can afford to take cruises 2 or 3 times a year.
I have just been contacted bySusan Jackson from Viva. Initially, I told her I wasn’t interested and politely hung up. She immediately phoned back. I listened to her blurb offering me £6500 for DWVC. I told her we’d written the experience off. She assured me that we would have the money within 2 weeks. She also said Continent Connections wanted to buy my share.
I let her give her, in my opinion, a to good to be believed story. Then she said it. All I had to do was pay a refundable deposit. She became quite pushy when I said no. She asked why, over and over. The money would protect them if I failed to return the contract. Only too late did I think to ask, who would protect me.
Remember, if something sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
Yes we had exactly that ,everything you have pointed out except we refused to pay the 1890Euro’s and we were asked on many occasions to pay the maintenance, then billed for the £297 and threatened with court. We also told them that if they took us to court we would show the paper they had sent us with our signatures on it which they had photocopied onto there paperwork , from our Viva Connect papers….we never heard from them again !
