Ultra Travel, the corporate buyer after the sale falls through with Half Moon..

The company Ultra Travel has been brought to our attention by consumers who have been dealing recently with Half Moon Holdings or HM Holdings.

This company was also mentioned previously in connection with Blue Chip.

As mentioned on this blog, Half Moon Holdings is a cold caller that claims to have a buyer for the consumers timeshare and requests and upfront fee of 1400€ to complete this sale.

Sadly this story turns out to be not true and after paying the 1400€ the consumer is notified that the purchaser has pulled out due to personal circumstances.

Refunding the (illegally requested) upfront fee does not seem to be an option but as per the agreement Half Moon sent to the consumer, they will guarantee a second resale offer for a similar sales prize.

This second offer now arrives in the name of Ultra Travel.

Although the consumer is explained this is a “corporate buyer” who is interested in their timeshare, the reality turns out to be “slightly” different.

First of all another payment is requested from the consumer to process this sale. A payment for a transfer of the original timeshare / membership into an Ultra travel Membership. The consumer is guaranteed this new membership will then be sold straight away in the same transaction.

The transfer fee is 2000€ but not to worry, the 2000€ plus the already paid 1400€ is built into the sales price and will be recovered…

The address for Ultra Travel is Apartado de Correos 173, Torre del Mar 29740, Spain. This happens to be the same postbox that Half Moon uses.

The agreement the consumer receives only mentions the purchase of the Ultra Travel Membership, and also mentions an 80€ Annual Membership fee.

Of course the agent on the phone will tell you that this has nothing to do with you as you are not keeping the membership…but from other similar operations we know better…

If you have been dealing with Half Moon Holdings or any other dubious resale company that has taken an upfront fee from you, and now claims to have the sale guaranteed through Ultra Travel, then please let us know.

I have been contacted by all the above companies and the way to get money back if payment was by credit card is to do a Section 75.

  2. David & Margaret says:

We paid Excalibur 1395 euros to sell our Full Circle membership. The sale fell through (surprise!). We were then contacted by a company called ‘leisure around the world’ who offered to buy it but required a transfer form which would cost 1800 euros. We declined. Then we were contacted by Excalibur again with the Ultra Travel deal; another 2290 euros required because it was a corporate purchase not private. We declined. Excalibur say they will continue to look for a private purchaser . The whole thing is very distressing. We are obviously very gullible idiots!

Looking at selling with hm holdings. They have Saud is corporate buyer. 800 upfront. Money in 2 and half week. Any proof this isn’t ligitimate. Can I claim back on credit card if doesn’t go through. Thank you

    • Hi,

The fact they cold call and ask for an upfront fee is the proof on itself. Upfront fees are ILLEGAL and not allowed in timeshare resales. Any genuine resale company would know and would not ask for this payment.

Buyer lined up already? Sounds too good to be true..

Please read the comments on this blog about this company and you will see the experience from other consumers.

Yes you can claim a refund, but be aware that the credit card company will not easily give in and you will have to proof you were mis represented or breach of contract. And you know? There is no mention in the Half Moon contract about this buyer lined up at all. You will be signing a one year marketing agreement…convince your bank this wasn’t what they told you..

      Better be safe than sorry!

      Kind regards

      Customer Care
