Have you received a cold call from Sherlock Marketing?

sherlock Yes a new cold caller has been brought to our attention, by the name of Sherlock Marketing.

This company cold calls timeshare owners throughout Europe and offer the owners to register for a No Win No Fee Claim against their timeshare resort for mis-selling the product.

Not only does this sound familiar what Sherlock Marketing offers, they also use familiar websites for the consumers to look at as they refer them to the website of ITRA the International Timeshare Refund Action.

Yes indeed that is ITRA all over again, and again under a new name which seems to be something they do every so many months. The Timeshare owner is offered by the agent from Sherlock Marketing a visit to the offices from ITRA in Spain to sign up for this claim. Alternatively we also know that there are offices in the Algarve (Portugal) and the UK.

Sherlock Marketing seems to be the latest set up and they even have a website http://www.sherlockmarketing.com  The website does not really mention though what they are all about and the company is purely presented as a Telemarketing service for other companies. Contact details for Sherlock Marketing are telephones: (+34) 951 247 110;  0845 286 4250 and 0845 286 4251 and email: info@sherlockmarketing.com

For those not familiar with ITRA and the real reason why people are invited to these meetings, we suggest to have a look at the following link with the range of articles published about this. The link is https://mindtimeshare.me/?s=ITRA We never seem to understand why a company such as ITRA who claims to be there to help Timeshare owners has the need to change company names every so many months, and make people believe they are actually talking to others. If a company like ITRA was really there to help Timeshare owners, doing successful claims and offering a straight forward disposal service, would they not be “proud” of their name? If you have been contacted by Sherlock Marketing from 0034 951247110; 08452864250 and 08452864251 for a “No Win No Fee” claim, then please let us know. 1. Katie says:

Ok so we are not to use this company, however I do feel I was mis sold my timeshare so who can I use ??

  2. Pip says:

I received a call from Jane Clark of Sherlock Marketing in January, looked on here and declined their offer, Yesterday received a call from Julie Jardine of Victoria Marketing, received the email and found it was identical content to the one received from Sherlock Marketing including all three atachments. When she rang back today to see if I had received the email I asked her if they had any connection to Sherlock Marketing, she said she had never heard of them……. that seems a bit odd as she is mentioned in the above posts.

I was contacted today by Sherlock ,Anne lewis promising 60/40 split of any monies retrieved, has any body know any more ,she said had to be compleated by end of March.Has anyone been given any other date??

  4. Jane says:

Contacted on Tuesday by Julie at Sherlock Marketing, a quick Google search brought me here, reading through the comments think we will give this a wide berth

  5. Angela says:

I too have been contacted by Sherlock Marketing and am really glad I came across this site on my research. Thank you

  6. PATRICIA says:

I am glad I have found this site. A lady called Annette from Sherlock marketing has called us several times about our CLC membership, unfortunately for her the timing of her calls have never been convenient. She is always very polite but I was beginning to have my suspicions that there was some scam. when she next call i will definitely tell her we are not interested. Thank you for the information.

  7. John says:

This is what I was sent following a cold call.
They have my phone number (unlisted) and an email address which is also unlisted.

To summarise; we are registering timeshare and points owners on a No Win No Fee basis, for the lawsuit against the timeshare industry.

This legal action is based on a number of points, the main ones are detailed below and I am sure that as an owner you will identify with most, if not all, of these problems:

 Maintenance charges – which are increasing EVERY year at a rate that is higher than inflation.

 Perpetuity clause – ownership of timeshare WILL be passed on to next of kin, along with the obligation to continue to pay increasing maintenance costs.

 Mis-selling of timeshare – told at initial sale that it would increase in value or be an investment for the future.

 Exchange system – increasing difficulty in getting promised like-for-like accommodation or holidays, plus the associated costs involved of using a 3rd party.

 Finance packages – offered at initial sale to help obtain credit but extremely expensive.

 Ownership becoming a burden rather that a pleasure in the future, with no available exit policy.

Every claim is unique and based on Individual Ownership, this means that one of our professional consultants will be at your disposal to help you register your claim.

Once settled the full amount of compensation will be paid by the Court Administrators to the legal owners and to our company, all owners agree that we will receive 40% of the Compensation awarded on completion of the claim with the owners receiving 60%.

The meeting with our consultant is on a one-to-one basis and does not involve any kind of presentation or sales pitch. WE DO NOT buy, sell or trade in timeshare, points or any holiday products – our Advisors are purely interested in helping YOU to file your CLAIM.

Due to the increasing interest of owners wishing to claim, the timeshare industry is making it increasingly difficult for owners to register. As part of a reputable company offering a genuine service I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have surrounding your claim and how we can help you to recoup YOUR MONEY.

I would like to confirm we will pay for up to 3 nights 4 days accommodation in a quality hotel for 2 people on a B & B basis plus registration for the No Win No Fee compensation claim at our office in Marbella.

I would also like to reiterate that we have no wish to purchase your timeshare from you and have no products for you to look at or to buy and that at no time will you be asked for any money in regards to registration of your claim.

Should you wish to dispose of your points/timeshare then free legal advice and assistance for a direct legal disposal can be given during your visit.

I have attached a small questionnaire for you to complete and return to enable us to estimate your claim value and also a copy of the advert in the Sunday Mirror earlier this year.

    Kind Regards

    Jane Clark

Will be keeping well clear and thanks for all the info in this blog – most helpful.

  8. Anthony says:

My wife received a call from Sherlock Marketing a couple of days ago about disposing of our timeshare. She told them she was not interested. A 1471 check gave their telephone number as 0845 2862110

  9. Ruth says:

I have just been contacted by Sherlock Marketing. It is not the first time I get a cold caller. I now recognise a cold caller as soon as they start talking. It is always the same approach. I always ask for a name, (although they can call themselves any name}. She said she was Julie calling about a time share compensation claim. I always ask asked on behalf of whom she was calling from: Sherlock Marketing. I normally ask for a phone number. She gave me 00 34 95 247 110. I told her that we do not deal with unknown to us companies and in particular do not deal with such calls. I put the phone down. I checked who called and the number was 0845 2 864 250. I then google them on my PC and usually come to your site which confirms me that it was indeed another cold caller. Thank you for making information about cold callers available. Very valuable.

    • Kevin says:

Just been contacted by Sherlock Marketing with the No Win No Fee talk and Julie made it sound quite appealing until I took the time to look on Mindtimeshare and Ruths comments about the same chat.
Must thank Mindtimeshare and all the people involved
      Thank you

  10. Amanda says:

I have been contacted also and was really considering trying to get to Spain as it seem a glimmer of hope to get out of this bind with CLC. The funny thing is it is proving difficult to get a flight and Lynne our contact had no luck either. This could be a blessing in disguise as I am not sure now if this is all another scam. I like CLC but feel I was pressurised or intimidated to sign up and now with Sherlock Marketing feel the same pressure to register in their time limits set.

  11. Marie says:

Hi, I have been contacted at least twice in the last month by Lynn Brook on +34 951 20 35 24 offering a no-win no-fee compensation action against CLC for mis-selling. I have been e-mailed a form to complete, eight questions apparently, but I have not opened the attachment in the email. I agreed to her sending the email (she had my email address anyway) just to get off the phone. No direct mention of travelling to Spain was mentioned in the call, but this is apparent from the email. Sherlock offers to pay for 3 days / 4 nights B&B accomodation in a ‘quality’ hotel in order to attend their offices in Marbella. Lynn is at pains to point out that they have no wish to purchase my timeshare from me and have no products for me to look at or to buy and that at no time will I be asked for any money in regards to registration of my claim. She does say though that should I wish to dispose of my points/timeshare then free legal advice and assistance for a direct legal disposal can be given during my visit.
Should I consider this at all, or avoid at all costs?

    • Lynda says:

      Hi,
We have had similar calls/paperwork etc. I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole (We have a narrowboat timeshare, so pardon the pun!)
They have been pressing for us to got out to Spain a.s.a.p…..because there’s a “deadline timewise”, don’t you know, lol!! Funny, but it’s already been extended a couple of times in the last week or two! Oh, and you would also need to pay for your flights – did they mention that?
They won’t be seeing us, that’s for sure!
Please be careful. I would NOT take this any further.
      Hope this helps.

    • andrew says:

Hi Marie, Andy here see my posts dated today 24/10/2015 and earler and you can make your mind up as to go or not,I did and had a loverly time on them. good luck.

  12. Eddie says:

Have been contacted today by Julie Jardine Customer services on (+34) 951247110 – Sherlock Marketing.
Pretty much Promising everything identical within the above posts, for one small moment I thought I saw a little light at the end of the tunnel, I cant believe there are people out there trying to sc** people whom are desperate to get rid of nooses from around their necks.
We have never understood the process of using this club / timeshare to our advantage and we have had to endure a full day of pressured sales, virtually every time we booked a holiday with CLC, to improve or change our package. (hence why we are fractional property owners now !!) This is inclusive of re-financing and getting assistance from CLC, in order to do so, to the tune of silly money.
This has put an immense strain & burden on our finances/ marriage and has without doubt, caused anxiety and discomfort within our home & family life.
Needless to say the Biggest Mistake of Our Lives, with no feasible priceless exit.
What holidays we have had, (only a Few !!), apart from being in all day meetings, have been good, clean and very well maintained ( With the price being paid, no less should be expected) however not worth the stress & anxiety, nor the financial strain.
Looks like the only leaf from this book available at this time, would be Andy`s, as I am not aware of any exit program from fractional CLC membership. (:-(

    • Dave says:

Has anyone gone through with this and been successful ?

      • andy says:

Hi Dave and Eddie, you can speak to CLC and have your membership cancelled and then not be liable for maintance fees,I did this and got a letter to prove it from CLC stating that they would not chase me for any outstanding money owed if any. However if you owe anything to the finance company (shawbrook bank) in my case you would still have to pay them. Its not ideal but the stress of paying ever increasing fees and not able to book where I want when I want to CLC has been relieved, with I might add, I can rejoin them if I wanted to at a latter date when my finances improved!!! So tell them A little white lie that you finances have been hit and you cant afford the fees at the momment and they should with luck release you from your contract. Lay it on thick I did and it worked for me. I did go out to sherlock marketing anyway to sign the class action (see my posts on here) but not heard anything as yet, hope this helps.

    • andrew says:

Hi Eddie, Andy here, see my post below to you and Dave.

  13. alan says:

i have just been contacted by sherlock marketing been offered the same as the other people .on this page 60/40. told me they got my name and number off a timeshare data base ,dont know if such a thing exists.
has anybody evolved with clc ever got anything for there points ? be very interested to know. cheers

    • andy says:

I went out to them, had a nice stay in hotel, they tried to get £6500 out of me to dispose of clc ownership at their pokey little office no sherlock signage anywhere to be seen. I did fill out the ITRA class action forms for the no win no fee 60/40 offer, but as far as I know the class action is only for RCI owners!! but then again who knows if they have started one against clc. No I have never been able to get anything where I wanted when I wanted from clc! only got offered upgrade in places I did not want to goto.

  14. andy says:

I have just booked my flights to malaga to visit sherlock marketing in july but now I have read these blogs I’m not sure its a good idea. have been sent hotel voucher for 3 night stay at 4* hotel in fuengirola. I want out of CLC but now not sure if its a good idea to go! incase I get lumbered with cost of hotel if I refuse to pay a deposit at the arranged meeting at their Marbella office. The lady Ann Lewis seemed very well informed on the phone and very helpful to arrange flights but also let me book my own flights. the number they called on is 0034951203524. If I go I will let you know what the score was, but Iwas told they do not buy back or sell my timeshere but put me intouch with a notary If I want who will deal with problem to get the contract cancelled and the finance contract with Shawbrook bank voided. Can this be true?

    • Juan says:

If you want out of CLC and you are a VC member why not just hand it back – VC permits this.

    • Geoff says:

have you been out to the Sherlock offices in Spain yet. we are due to go in September.

      • andy says:

Yes I have been out to them, got picked up by Chris and taken to an office just outside Marbella, see my reply to Alan above. my advice is only sign the ITRA class action only dont get co**** out of £6500 to get rid of anything. If you are with clc you can get it suspended with no problem just talk to clc I did and have letter to prove that they will not chase me for any maintainace, and can rejoin later if i so wish, Dont let them know you spoke to clc as they class that as making a claim and therefore you would be liable for hotel costs, but I got away with it as I told them about it before i went out and they were not happy but checked their recorded phone calls to prove it.just have a nice break in the sun, we did, good luck.

    • Suma says:

How did the meeting go? We are booked to go to Malaga in November. Any tips and warnings?!

      • andy says:

Hi, yes go if you have paid for your flights, enjoy the hotel but dont sign anything at their office unless its the ITRA class action paperwork, they will try to get you to see a notary!!!
and then hit you with possible costs around £6500, DONT DO IT,ask them for a copy of the class action paperwork, bet you wont get it to bring back with you. Also if you have any sort of release from you club re maintaince fees, like I did make sure they know about it before you go or the will try and charge you for hotel stay.If you dont have any agreement with your club thats fine, just sit there listen and dont get fooled in to parting with any money, just tell them you need more time to think about it. We did that and Chris the guy that picked us up just took us back to hotel and we had a lovely break in the sun on them.(flights excluded). good luck.

      • andrew says:

Hi Suma, if you read my posts hopefully you will get your answers, good luck in november. Just dont take up their offer to see the notary, only fill out the class action form and tell them you want to think about it. If you have spoken to CLC do not tell them you have as they will try and charge you for the hotel as they class this as a claim.

    • Suma says:

      Hi,
      Any update?
We are due to fly out to Malaga in November! Wondering if we should go!
      SM

      • Andy says:

Hi Suma, Andy here. Did you go out to sherlock yet? and if so how did it go? Hope my posts were of some help to you.

      • Andy says:

Hi Suma, Andy here. Did you go out to sherlock in the end? and if so how did you get on? hope my posts and replys to you helped you out.

  15. Richard says:

We have also been contacted , and had letter with 60/40, no win no fee !!!. Offering the same as above, by Sherlock Marketing!!.
How can they reinvent themselves in so many ways!!.
Where is the law- this cannot be legal can it ??.
    Richard.

  16. sandra says:

contacted this evening, obviously been going on for over a year!!!! asked to pay for flight but free accommodation in 4 star hotel. visit notary to see if we have a claim, not that we want one. quite happy with our arrangement.

  17. Anthony says:

Also contacted by Heidi at Sherlock Marketing. How did they get my home number and e-mail? She didn’t have any idea as to what I owned etc but knew it was with CLC. I’m in Spain from the 11th April and was told I couldn’t have the accomodation. Was sent the very professional survey which I was told needed to be returned to establish eligibility.
Why would or should it differ if you are in employment or retired. I can confirm that it will not be returned so I’m afraid that I will lose my opportunity to get money back. I’m sorry these nice people have wasted their time speaking to me when I do not appear to want to help myself

  18. Janet says:

I was contacted on the 19th and 23rd of February by Heidi of Sherlock marketing,I must admit she sounded very convincing, I would like to thank you all for bringing me back to my senses, as it has been said if its too good to be true it probably is, I do have conflict with my timeshare but there is so many con artists out there, you cannot trust any of these call centres. If in doubt leave it out !

  19. Jane says:

I have been contacted today 16th February 2015 from 0034957203524 offering 60/40% no win etc 3 night stay, she kept saying how registration for the court case was running out and need to act before end of April to fill in a small question that she has sent me via email and she will assess whether its worth me applying for the claim! Her name was Ann Lewis of Sherlock marketing. I thought it sounded dodgey so googled and found this! Shame would still like to get rid of time share!

    • Andy says:

See my comment to Shirley/Wendy below and all my posts on this site under my name Andy. I went out to sherlock and had a lovley 3 day break on them.

  20. Wendy says:

I was contacted on Friday 09/11/2015 by Nina Robertson, and are working on behalf of ITRA, She stated that they were bringing a class action on a no win no fee, regarding the mis selling of fractional shares, 40%/60%.The following is taken from her email – ” Maintenance charges – which are increasing EVERY year at a rate that is higher than inflation. Perpetuity clause – ownership of timeshare WILL be passed on to next of kin, along with the obligation to continue to pay increasing maintenance costs. Mis-selling of timeshare – told at initial sale that it would increase in value or be an investment for the future. Exchange system – increasing difficulty in getting promised like-for-like accommodation or holidays, plus the associated costs involved of using a 3rd party. Finance packages – offered at initial sale to help obtain credit but extremely expensive. Ownership becoming a burden rather that a pleasure in the future, with no available exit policy” and offering a 4 day stay in a hotel in Marbella in return for 2 hrs consultation, having read previous comments, I will take it this is a well run ****. I’d like to know where they got my personal mobile number from to call me !!!!

    • Shirley says:

I too was contacted by Nina Robertson who e-mailed the above wording to me and has since telephoned several times to get me to register. I have been reluctant to reply because there are so many scams out there and this looks to be one more. I did feel rail-roaded into buying my fractional time share and forced to attend the meeting which took hours to complete. You do not really get enough time to really look into all the details of being committed into a 18 or 19 yr contract. My timeshare is fully paid up and I have had some very nice holidays at their complexes. which are very well maintained and have a good security system in place However, The maintenance fees go up every year higher than the Spanish inflation and there is a penalty charge if it is not paid at the beginning of the year in January. There is also a charge if you pay it by credit card.you can pay it by three monthly instalments, but if you opt for six monthly instalments then there is a surcharge for this. It does make one feel trapped when you work out what the maintenance charges will be towards the end of the contract. and whether you will get anything back if they sell your timeshare as this was just a spoken promise.

      • Andy says:

If you are with CLC speak to them and they may release you from the maintance fees but you will not be able to use your points, effectivly cancelling you right to use them. I told them I had lost my job and could not afford the fees, and they released me and sent me an e-mail stating the would not chase me for any monies due or owed. But I could rejoin them if and when me circumstances improved. As far as I know they will never be able to sell your fractions as the value is nothing that is what I am led to believe through my own research on the matter.PM/email mindtimeshare direct I am sure you will be told much the same as I was.

  21. Keith says:

    Keith
We too have been contacted by Julia of Sherlock Marketing, offering the 3 day break to complete the claim registration, sounds very plausible. Has anybody actually been down to Spain and completed this procedure to their satisfaction, that it is not a **** of any sort.

  22. Alan says:

I was contacted by Nina Robertson on Thursday 13/11/14 and at first it all sounded plausable. However, I started to wonder how they had my details, especially my work direct dial number when it was never stated in the timeshare agreement. I suspect a scam and will treat it as such.

  23. John says:

This company has called us twice in past week to invite us to join their so called class action against the timeshare industry and our timeshare company in particular as according to the rep. we were surely mislead at the time we entered in to our contract . I indicated that this was not the case everything was carefully explained to us and we were in fact quite happy with our membership and fully aware of our position should we decide to “walk away” from the arrangement before we died
I subsequently received an email outlining the flaws in timeshare ownership contracts along with the invitation to go to Spain to sign up for the action. NO THANKS

  24. Keith says:

Telephone calls and then a letter in the post from Sherlock Marketing ||||| They are still operating the same way.
    Keith

  25. James says:

I have been contacted by Sherlock Marketing asking us to go to Spain and sign some documents to get a refund on a 60/40 basis. I think the name was Annette Hollingsworth.

  26. LYNN says:

i have been contacted by sherlock margeting offering a three day holiday in marbella free with a two hour consultation two register with the notary public too get money back they take 40% IS THIS TRUE XX

  27. S M says:

I too have been contacted by Sherlock Marketing, offering free notary assistance on taking my timeshare company to court nowin no fee, 3days free accommodation in Spain to register my claim, sounded to good to be true, after being conned before by Blue Chip, I decided to give it a miss.

  28. Chris says:

    Hi John,
Do these people operate as Timeshare Release or is this a different company 08007720247

  29. Judy says:

I have just been contacted by Ann Lewis at Sherlock Marketing talking about a 3 day trip in a nice hotel, opportunity to go to a Notary to get rid of the perpetuity problems of the timeshare. No win, no fee but an agreement that they would get 40% of the refund once it has been paid to me. Sounds very helpful and plausible.

    • Colin says:

      Hi Judy,
      Did you pursue this ?
I think it sounds reasonable too and cant understand what is wrong with it… I appreciate there are sca***** but I wont be parting with any more money.. So how can they win?

      Colin

    • Shirley says:

Judy if this was plausible and you did get your fee do you not thinks a 60/40 refund is exstortionary?? it almost half of your entitlement. That’s if they pass the fee on of course.

  30. terry says:

terry white I have been contacted by http://www.prudent claims.com re no win no fee claim when I questioned then regarding signing a very onerous document the said you do not appear to be the type of customer we wish to deal with owners beware of another sc**

  31. elly says:
