This week a lot of consumers have started to inquire about Davenport Properties which seems to be based in Benidorm.

This company has started a cold call campaign and is telling owners that they have already a buyer lined up for their Timeshare ownership.

This seems a bit odd seen the fact the Timeshare owner never had any previous contact with Davenport Properties before.

And the sales price is really very high.

They don’t seem to have a website.

After a couple of days, Davenport Properties contacts the owners again with the good news that the membership has been sold. The new owners have transferred the money into an escrow account and all that needs to be done is the paperwork for the transfer of ownership.

This paperwork is handled by a “legal” company called Hamdens Solicitors also based in Benidorm.

All the owner needs to do is fill in his details and bank account and the money will be transferred.

What happens though is that on the form the owner has to fill in his “NIE NUMBER” the Spanish tax number which is obligated for those resident in Spain or those owning a real estate property or business in Spain.

As in all the other cases where this issue is raised, this is the “trick” where the poor timeshare owner will say he has no NIE, and these companies “kindly” offer to arrange one for him against a fee.

Please do not fall for this!

Research has shown us that there is no such company registered in Benidorm or any other town in Spain.

As always we recommend all Timeshare owners to be cautious with cold callers and certainly those who claim to have buyers lined up with money transferred into an “escrow account” before the owner even has signed anything or proven that he owns the timeshare!
