This month’s Cold caller list is surprisingly a very long list. In July 2014 we have detected a total of 118 active companies and among them we have 31 new companies!

One would say that due to the holiday season the businesses slow down. Well the business of cold calling has certainly not slowed down and we would say to be extra on the guard when your phone rings.

A lot of companies are now using the tactic of making the consumer believe they are not charging any money and they will insist that this is the case. But once the consumer decides to go ahead with a resale or claims company, a new “company” appears on the scene and presents itself as the notary or the lawyer who will take care of the official paperwork. This is then the moment where money will be requested.

For as much as the paperwork looks official, and companies names sound “professional” or websites look real…be always very careful with those transactions with companies who have offered their services on a cold call in the first place.

There are no taxes to be paid for a normal straight forward timeshare resale, there is no need for a notary to interfere is you are selling a club membership, you don’t need a Spanish Tax ID number called NIE and neither do you need to translate the paperwork to Spanish when claiming under the Consumer Act!

In case of doubt, always double check and do research. If there is no time to do this because the sale has to be agreed urgently, or the courts are closing…then please be assured that there is no sale, there is no court case or claim and you were about to lose a lot of money to people who don’t deserve this.
