A new alert goes out for a cold caller by the name of Avianca, who claims to be based in Barcelona and is targeting mainly Russian Timeshare owners.
Avianca presents themselves as a large travel agency which is buying inventory for their clients and interested in the Timeshare membership of the consumer they cold call.
Once they have the interest of the Timeshare owner they send them several documents, where they explain in length about the supposed offer, the obligations of the buyers, etc.
What becomes clear as well is that Avianca is expecting the Timeshare owner to pay a “liability insurance deposit” upfront, in order to process the resale. They are looking for 2500€ to get the paperwork moving.
As we know, requesting an upfront fee for a timeshare resale is not allowed as per the European Timeshare legislation and any company asking for such money should be avoided.

The website they quote as being the one of the company is actually a website of a South American Travel agency, nothing to do with timeshare and with no branch in Spain or Barcelona at all. Neither do the contact details coincide.
