La Botiga Immobilien, the latest timeshare resale fraud from Barcelona

Once again a new resale company has appeared on the scene, La Botiga Immobilien.

So far we have only heard from German timeshare owners who were contacted by cold call and offered to sell their timeshare at very high (unrealistic) prices.

As also with other similar companies, La Botiga Immobilien use fraudulently the company name of an existing real estate company in Barcelona, probably to give the impression of a longstanding, well-known company.

In the accompanying letter sent to a German consumer La Botiga Immobilien also seems to intend to give the impression that everything is under the umbrella of a Timeshare Association in Spain.

The contact information for this Timeshare Association, however, does not really make any sense, because as address is stated “Delegation de Hacienda Madrid, Organisation de timeshare, Department for German customers”, and as the “Delegación de Hacienda” are the Spanish tax authorities can clearly be said that there is no such organization for timeshare at the Spanish tax authorities, neither for German customers, nor for other nationalities.

The contact details of (fake) La Botiga Immobilien are by phone 0034-93-2203243, fax 0034-93-5457364 and e-mail labotiga@consultant.com.

Do not believe what those trained sales people might tell you on the phone. It is possible that they state in the first place that they would not request upfront payments, but usually then suddenly appear some other “additional costs” that are to be paid by the timeshare owners in advance.

Please be very careful, if you have already been contacted, DO NOT PAY ANY MONEY, even if the payment is supposedly required for notary fees, translation costs, or for the supposed registration of a NIE number or for any other reason that might sound credible to you in the first instance.

In any case, we recommend to seek first for information when you were cold called by this or any other company! We will always be at your disposal if you need any such information.
