Once more the journalists from the BBC4 radio program You & Yours have dedicated time to one of the many dubious companies we mention on our blog, Realistix Solutions or Realistix Browser.

We were approached by the BBC4 not so long ago regarding this program in the make, and as always we provided the background information we have on this company and also asked several victims if they could speak to the BBC and share their testimonials.

We are very pleased to see that the result of their investigations is the program they broadcasted yesterday.

You can listen to the program from You & Yours about Realistix Browser on the following link:

It is surprising that the actual manufacturer from Realistix in the UK claims they do not receive enough complaints to take further action against the marketers who seem to use a lot of pressure to convince the consumer to sign and also makes them open the box with software, whilst they fail to explain to the consumer that this results in losing their rights to cancel and return the goods!

Mindtimeshare has received so far 180 inquiries of different consumers about the Realistix DVD product of which 151 had actually paid something towards this purchase.

We are not sure how many more complaints are needed for a company to realise something is very wrong here?

  1. Elizabeth says:

We got caught up in this and contacted Realistix directly. The re-seller in Teneriffe (ISS) claimed we were buying the CD/software and we could give copies to family and friends .. i.e. it would be ours to do what we want with, and the cost would be spread around so even cheaper for us – basically they were trying to give us another incentive to buy. He even suggested we could “charge” some our friends money and get a portion of what we would be paying back.

Working in computers and software is seemed strange to me as you normally, never actually buy the software – you buy or lease a “license to use” the software either for commercial or personal use and you are allowed a limit on the number of “users” you can have. Usually it’s one “user” for something like this

That’s why I contacted Realistix directly and the person I spoke to informed me that it could not be copied and that it was a single “user license” and that the re-seller must have made a mistake on how many copies could be made. My view wasn’t that is was a mistake, but a deliberate tactic on the part of the salesman – it was miss-selling.

I also asked them, did they also know the re-seller (ISS) was also making opening the CD a condition of sale while the actual Realistix website under the FAQ page states.

Q: Am I required to break the security seal upon a purchase of Realistix Browser Suite in order to check for possible damage?

A: No, in the unlikely event of damage, damages will be visible on the exterior of the product.

I have to say I didn’t think that Realistix took my compliant very seriously. I asked what they were going to do about it and a got a “we will look into it”. It’s now a couple of years on, so the answer looks to be they haven’t done anything about their re-sellers in Teneriffe.
