Great Getaways Tenerife is a new company with a new website http://greatgetawaystenerife.com
The nice pictures and great resorts on offer surely will attract those who are looking for a nice relaxed holiday in the sun.
But looking past these lovely details on this web, what information is their provided from the company Great Getaways Tenerife?
Well, none we would say…
Because this website doesn’t really offer a lot of company info.
Apart from Great Getaways Tenerife as the name, there are no company registration details, and neither could we find these at the Spanish Companies house. There is no address for their offices, apart from the mention they are in Tenerife, and the phone numbers supplied are UK numbers (0203 514 4127 & 0127 395 1049)
So let’s think for one instance you end up booking with this company, and then something goes wrong…where would you go? Who can you ask? Where are they?
Research from Mindtimeshare has revealed though that there is a direct connection with other known fly-buy companies such as Dial a Break, Gold Crown Tenerife, Estrella Vacation and Gold Crown Services.
Companies all known because they were doing cold call campaigns and far too often failed in explaining properly to the consumers what they were buying into and what terms and conditions were attached to these purchases.
Great Getaways Tenerife mentions in their FAQ’s about a “personal representative” at the hotel or resort who will show you around and explain all about the benefits of their products, during your stay.
Is this once again a very “diplomatic” way to say you will have to go through an obligatory presentation? Is this once again then linked to qualification conditions, which only become clear when you have paid and try to book?
Time will tell we suppose.
But for the moment we do recommend caution if all of the sudden you receive a call from Great Getaways Tenerife with an offer that sounds too good to be true…

I was contacted by the company calling themselves Great Getaway Holidays promising platinum membership as a former Interval International member but after speaking to 3 different people and uneasy I said that I would not be parting with any money without full info. This prompted an end to the telephone conversation and there is little doubt that it is a shady operation. They sent me an e-mail from Katie at a web site in Adeje Tenerife tel 01273951049 but I have not rang this number. I feel the appropriate authorities should check them out before someone more vulnerable is suckered in.
My wife received a call from a middle-aged woman this afternoon giving the same spiel as the other comments. She said she worked for Great Getaways. My wife asked her how she got her details and the woman said they got them from the last resort we had been to but she couldn’t say where that was because of Data Protection. She also said she worked for Gold Crown but qualified this by saying all the resorts they were offering were called Gold Crown resorts because they had been awarded 4 or 5 stars. We let her run through her spiel and then my wife said she wasn’t interested. I did a 1471 check and the number used was 01273 951045. I checked this on the internet and there were several comments from people who had been told by cold callers that this was a company called Getaway Holidays. As usual, these people seem to be using a number of different names and telephone numbers to make the same offer.
I was phoned by this lot. They said that they were offering ‘bonus weeks’ as we were members of RCI. I explained that we no longer had RCI points but they replied that this does’t matter as the offer is ‘retrospective’ – they had my wife’s & my details obtained I take it from various holiday clubs we had been members of previously. The offer is to buy either a 1 week,2 week or 4 week package in ‘5 star resorts’ at what is ‘a great price’. When I asked the girl where she was phoning from she said ‘Adeje (Tenerife)’. I found this to be rather strange as what appeared to be a phone number with a UK STD was showing on my phone – on checking this later it was a Brighton number! Also the resorts on their website are not 5 star – Ihave been to a few & they are 3 star at best.
When I asked if we would have to attend a presentation during these breaks she said no but looking on their website it is obvious that we would.
In summary these people are LIARS & best avoided.
I have been contacted today by great getaways based in tenerife offering various amounts of weeks to be taken over the next four years at.gold crown resorts for example .minimum luxury. One.bedroom apartments 1 week for £295. 2 weeks at £395.4 weeks at £545.long haul, short haul etc what is their track record and have we got any genuine testimonials on line about this company.needless to say I declined and looking at this I am glad I did.
I am a War Pensioner registered disabled, brain damage with cognitive function problems. This being explained I asked for reasonable adjustments under the Disability Discrimination Act (Statute Law supercedes company policies and procedures). I wanted to speak with my daughter who does my budgeting for me first and then make a decision. All they were prepared to do was give me discount and pay now. Brain damage with associated cognitive function problems doesn’t make one stupid but it obviously demonstrates that they would prey on the vulnerable given chance.
I received a cold call in the evening and it all seemed to good to be true with the very short time limit to make a decision. My internet security did not like the site great getaways tenerife. The fellow was very persistent. In the end I just put the phone down. I was greatly assisted by the article on the mind the timeshare site. Thank-you for the warning
