When the operators from Estepona Travel called the consumers already with all their details about their membership in hands, the consumer was assured that they already have a buyer for their timeshare, and made even a firm offer on the price that the seller would receive.

The sales price is not exaggerated, so the consumer could actually think that this could be a good and a real offer, if there was not that one thing.

Upfront payments are not allowed to be taken when offering the resale of timeshare, stipulated by the European Timeshare Directive.

And the agents from Estepona Travel SL do actually ask for a payment upfront for legal fees, although they say this would be paid into an escrow account, but that does not make any difference, when you ask for something that is not legal!

Genuine resale companies do not work this way!

Consumers are reminded never to pay any money upfront for a resale service, and definitely not when they are cold called by someone who offers them money out of the blue.

In the documents that Estepona Travel send to consumers they prey on the long years of experience that they have in timeshare resales; as they state they are already successful on this market since 2000. Strange just that nobody has ever heard their name before, and more even that there is not even a company to find registered on the name of Estepona Travel SL whether in Spain or UK. 

We recommend being very careful and certainly NOT paying any money upfront, if you are contacted by Estepona Travel with a resale offer!
