A recent ASA Ruling on Easy Consulting has been published on the web of ASA the Advertising Standards Authority in the UK.
This ruling relates to the website from Direct Resorts International, company belonging to the group of Easy Consulting.
The text on the website www.directresortsinternational.co.uk stated, “All our luxury resorts are from £99 per person … 5 star Luxury Accommodation at RCI … Affiliated Resorts”.
The ASA was concerned by Easy Consulting SL’s lack of response and apparent disregard for the Code, which was a breach of CAP Code (Edition 12) rule 1.7 (Unreasonable delay). We reminded them of their responsibility to respond to our enquiries and told them to do so in future.
ASA concluded that with regards to the first upheld, in order to achieve the stated prices, consumers were required to attend a timeshare sales presentation, and that failure to attend would mean incurring the full cost of the holiday accommodation.
And regarding the second issue, that the resorts were RCI-affiliated. ASA requested evidence to demonstrate that that was the case, but they did not receive any such evidence. ASA also noted that the RCI’s website included on a “Consumer Alert” page confirmation that they had no relationship or link to Easy Consulting.
ASA therefore concluded that the claim was misleading.
