A new cold caller has been brought to our attention, using the name of Morgan Scott Marketing.
The person calling on behalf of Morgan Scott Marketing is offering the timeshare owner a claim against their resort.
When they call for the first time they already seem to be aware the consumer owns timeshare and where.
Being an un-solicited call it sounds like this company is not taking very serious the Data Protection law.
Part of the conversation of Morgan Scott Marketing is that there have been law changes recently in Spain (really?) and due to these changes the consumer might be eligible for a claim.
In order to assess the claim, the caller send the consumer a so called “assessment form” which needs to be filled in by return email.
Surprisingly everybody seems to be eligible and is invited to meetings, which they are holding around the UK in order to discuss the claim further.
In their follow up email they confirm that “Canarian Legal Alliance agents have contracted us to update timeshare, points and fractional owners on the law changes in Spain and to see if they are eligible for a claim.”
Strange thing is though that if you visit the website from Morgan Scott Marketing www.morganscottmarketing.com the company is presented as a “telemarketing” service for third party companies.
There is nothing on this website that indicates any legal qualification of the staff calling consumers that could back up the fact they are talking about law changes and verifying if people can claim or not…
The website was registered on the 3rd of October 2018
Apart from the telephone number +34 951 12 18 55 and email address info@morganscottmarketing.com the only “company details” are the address where they are supposedly based: Condes de San Isidro 1, 29640, Fuengirola, Malaga
There is no Companies house registration number, no Privacy statement, nothing really you would expect from a formal company.
Please note that we are not aware of any recent law changes in Spain, and if you would be eligible for a claim there is no need to attend any meeting in the UK.
Court claims are to be assessed by lawyers and lawyers do not cold call.
If Morgan Scott Marketing has approached you already, please do let us know.
You can fill in the CONTACT form or place a comment on the blog.
i have just had a call as all the above. they have asked me ton look up information and will call back early next week . then email form and then it goes to assesor to see if there is a Claim , then if so meet and b and b expenses paid . has anyone actuakky gone to one of these meetings. if they are not askiong for money up front i cant see what is in it for them ????
Joanne, please read my thread below (Spencer) – DON’T EVEN GO THERE WITH ANYTHING THEY ARE OFFERING OR SAYING – there has been NO change to the law, they are ONLY AFTER YOUR MONEY, and the ‘Timeshare Database’ they claim to have got your details from (the usual opening gambit) DOES NOT EXIST. The data they are using has been stolen by ex-timeshare sales people (some people eh ?) – old, unscreened and does not conform to the new GDPR data regulations – my advice, leave well alone and eventually they’ll get sick if ringing you
Oh dear – another bunch of bozo’s (being polite there) NOT based in Leighton Buzzard as their STD code would suggest (OFCOM, SORT THIS LOOPHOLE OUT FOR GOD’S SAKE !) Introduced herself as ‘Carol’ then ‘Morgan Scott’ – asked for me by my name (I always say ‘who’s calling’ now as a bit of screening). Line went dead so I did a reverse look up to find out who they are and found all this thread etc etc. We are, firstly, TPS registered : secondly, ex directory and thirdly – off-loaded our timeshare 5 years ago. These people are using stolen information from years ago and just constantly recycle their pitch and go again, speculating that ‘someone’ will take them up on their ‘offer’
My advice – DON’T BE SO BLOODY STUPID ! If you’re that keen to get out of your timeshare – talk to your timeshare company first – most offer ‘exit options’ – pay them and not some d***h**ds who WON’T actually get you out of it. Granted, it WILL cost you money but it WILL guarantee you will be free of it – longterm a much better option financially and, guess what, peace of mind because your supplier has sanctioned your exit. ‘Nuff said 😊
I have just been contacted by Morgan Scott regarding my fractional ownership. I have advised that under GDPR regulations I wish to have my name removed from their database…… lets see if that happens?!
As Dave says, I was also called by a representative from Morgan Scott. On the basis that I had a claim against my timeshare company. I have been sent an assessment form out and they have invited me up to Harrogate at the end of May. I have to take all my documents etc. Have even agreed to put me up in a hotel overnight. Seems very fishy to me. Do I just ignore
