Alpha Connexions, resale from Mallorca, cold call and upfront fee

A new company for our cold caller list; Alpha Connexions supposedly based in Mallorca.

Alpha Connexions seems to be very new as their website http://alphaconnexions.com/ was only registered recently (02/04/2012)

On this website, apart from the usual text which seems to be copied over and over again between all resale companies, they also supply contact details which surprisingly do not include a telephone number! Fortunately there is always a helping consumer around, so we can give you the information anyway, the phone number is 0845 7755867

The Address is: Alpha Connexions, Carrer dels Selleters 26, 07141, Marratxi Mallorca, Isla de Baleares, Spain.
And email: info@alphaconnexions.com

The modus operandi is as follows, they contact the consumer on a cold call and go over the usual pitch of what he wants to sell, we will look for a buyer, etc.

After 2 days they call back and surprise surprise they have spotted a buyer! Even their financial department is checking out the buyer but they will also need a “guarantee bond” from the seller in order to make sure all will be ok. This bond of £1300 will be held in an account until the timeshare owner sends off his deeds and he receives the money for the sale in his account.

Yes, here we go again! For some reason these companies don’t get tired of this same pitch.

Well we won’t get tired of publishing alerts, and telling consumers over and over again it is against the law to request an upfront fee!

Adding this up with the cold call and the fact that our investigations have already revealed there are connections with other similar dubious resale companies; we certainly do not recommend this company!

Have you had a call already from Alpha Connexion from 08457755867 ? Please do let us know. You can place a comment or write to us: customercare@mindtimeshare.com

My wife and I entered in a contract to sell a our ‘one week time share’ following a call from AC. We made it clear that we would pay no money up front. After contracts were exchanged they requested payment of a £1,500 bond – supposedly requested by the purchaser. This we refused saying we wanted nothing more to do with them.

Now we have received a letter asking for a £245 cancellation fee. We will not be paying this.

      MORE DETAIL :

Returned from holiday on Tues October 2 2012 and found ‘phone calls had been made by Alpha Connexions while we were away. On calling them back, they said we now needed to send £1,500 as bond to safeguard purchasers. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY ADMITTED TO REQUIRING AN UPFRONT FEE which we had told them in all our dealings with AC we were not prepared to do.

Sent an e-mail cancelling the contract on October 2 2012 as this was NOT the agreement we had signed up for.

Today, October 11, received a letter asking for a fee of £245 as we broke their clause 7 of the contract saying notice to cancel has to be done by recorded delivery 14 days after contractual agreement date. THIS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE AS THE CONTRACT IS DATED 30 JULY 2012 AND WE ONLY WERE MADE AWARE OF THE £1,500 TO BE PAID BY US ON OCTOBER 2 2012 – SOME TWO MONTHS SINCE.

Therefore, AC are in breach of contract!

Alpha connections contacted my brother recently and told him after he said there would be no upfront fee, that they would not take any money and that he would have to pay them 10% of the value of the timeshare…… They sent him the paperwork and terms and conditions, and he read that if he pulls out and cancels that he would have to pay something like 250gbp and i yet to see the paperwork but in the terms, it seems like he would have to pay the 10% before finalising the sale too… which like you say, they’ll prob say there is a buyer, then after payment, say that the buyer has cancelled and they will keep the money and continue to resell, which i guess would be BS. we are not taken for a fool and thanks to the internet, we can continue to be warned against such companies. after all i don’t think there is a genuine reseller out there.

I have had dealings with Alpha Connexions, they haven’t mentioned the upfront fee and have sent me all the paperwork to fill in. I do think it is too good to be true as time shares are not selling

We have been contacted by a company called ‘London Marketing’ on behalf of their ‘client’ who turned out to be ‘Alpha Connections’. They said that they wanted details of our timeshare so that Alpha Connections could give us an offer. They explained that Alpha Connections couldn’t cold call us but we could give permission for them to call us. Luckily we had read your web site and politely told them to get on their bike!

i have been having calls from alpha connections and expecting another today as you say they mentioned £1300 using my visa card, they found a dutch couple living in france who were interested,

    • Hi David,
      Thanks for your comment.
Please don’t pay this to them, it is illegal to start with and very dubious in any case, so keep your credit card savely in your wallet.
      Kind regards
