The Refund Action Group and their lawsuit against the Timeshare Industry

trag

The Refund Action Group – TRAG is a cold caller who approaches Timeshare owners about a supposed lawsuit against the Timeshare Industry.

Contact details for this company are Telephone 0161 884 0610 and their email address is info@therefundactiongroup.com. Although they have the domain name, there is no website as such.

As they explain in a follow up email, their legal action is based on a number of points, with which they believe most timeshare owners can identify themselves.

Increasing Maintenance charges, Perpetuity Clause, Mis selling of Timeshare, problems with the exchange system, ownership becoming a burden and as they put it “the constant harassment from companies offering you services such as re-sale – which are, in most cases, not what they seem to be.”

The Refund Action Group claims that a Timeshare owner is entitled to be part of the legal action and claim compensation on a NO WIN/NO FEE basis.  Some claims are even in excess of £20.000. The Timeshare owner does not pay anything until the claim is settled en then they pay a 40% to The Refund Action Group…

Hold on, did we not hear all of this already before? Does this not sound very very similar to what ITRA and connected companies are telling consumers?

In order to sign up for this claim the Timeshare owner has to attend a meeting.

Seen the experience we already have with companies connected to ITRA that cold call with the exact same pitch, would charge the exact same amount 40/60 and also invite to meetings where we know what is happening in reality…we don’t recommend dealing with The Refund Action Group – TRAG

If you have been contacted by The Refund Action Group from 01618840610 for a meeting about a NO WIN NO FEE compensation claim, then please let us know.

Guess what I have been cold called by the Refund Action Group, even promising I can see about getting money back which ITRA conned out of me!!! I have now had 3 calls from 3 different people trying to confirm my booking at Powdermill Hotel in Battle and my appointment with one of their ‘advisors’. I assume after reading all this that I won’t be going ??
How am I suppose to get round this mis-selling of the timeshare points where I was blatantly told I could use it as an investment and sell it on in the future. But guess what CLC will only take it back and give me nothing or pass me on to RDO which i haven’t got anywhere with yet!!!
Help. Who is actually governing ANY of this over the timeshares?????

  2. Anthony says:

I was contacted to go to a meeting in Penrith and had already been stated, we were told there was no upfront costs, so after Reading this blog, we won’t be attending, not even going to tell them just not turning up

  3. Anthony says:

The Refund Action Group are now using the telephone number 01524 889560. This number appears to originate from the Lancaster area.

I just received an email from Refund Action Group to confirm my meeting in Huddlesfield, I am so glad I have read this, I was intending to drive 3 hours to meet them as I though they were sounded legit for a change, but just though I would do a search to double check. so glad I found this I’m not going now. Are there any honest companies that can help get compensation or get out of the contracts without trying to take you for an even bigger ride. Regards Carol

  5. Jenny says:

We were contacted last week by Lauren White, Refund Action Group, who spoke most plausibly about their lawsuit and the compensation we would get for the ‘mis-selling’ or our timeshare. We agreed to attend a meeting in Salisbury. We were then contacted by Lynne Brook to confirm our appointment. Some things about it rang alarm bells, such as lawsuit against “timeshare industry,” who would this be? You cannot sue an industry! Lynne confirmed a 3 hour meeting, but why so long, simply to sign us up? Their letter says they do not want our money, & are not selling a product but talks about free legal assistance for “direct legal disposal” of our timeshare. Our research has shown that folks who have been to their meetings all, without exception, say they push hard to get you to pay £6K or more for this “legal disposal”. So they are most certainly selling! We have cancelled our meeting and let them know why! If we do pay a lawyer over our timeshare it will not be one who has a proven track record rather than one who cold calls. In addition their supposed lawsuit has been going at least since 2011 so I doubt that it is either real or that any compensation will be paid in the end. It all feels like a cover to get money out of timeshare owners who are already in the soup through in-perpetuity contracts!

We were cold called by The Refund Action Group (Lauren White) who explained the court action they were planning , they needed 30,000 people to sign and had 28,000 already onboard. We were invited to attend a meeting next week in Tunbridge Wells at One Warwick Park Hotel. We were planning to attend. We received a further email from a Patrick Phillip with a link to some documents for us to sign, (we haven’t opened this link). Having carried out a check on this site and other sites and read the blog comments we will not be attending. I have sent this as you requested.
Hope others will be aware of this possible sc**.

  7. Lynn says:

TRAG contacted us about our CLC points and we have a meeting with them next week. Does anyone have any advice please?

  8. Matt says:

I’ve been to the meeting, their only interest is for you to pay about 6K to release your timeshare or fraction, I told them at the beginning that I would not be paying a penny for anything, they still kept us there for hours.

  9. Katharine says:

    I’ve just been called by
0034951242875 Lynne Brook of The Refund Action Group (20Feb17 17.45) inviting me to a meeting at the Hilton Bristol airport 27Feb-3Mar 2017.

Has anyone on this site suffered ID theft? I would think it’s a front for that.

  10. Steve says:

Attended a 3hr meeting at the old golf house in huddersfield after yet another cold call but as it wasn’t far to travel we went along. Met Mark Allen and Michael Rowbottom, talked about compensation for miss-selling of timeshare and worked out we would be due compensation of around £20k. Painted a bleak pic of perpetuity clause by printing what maintenance would be due over next 40 years and what debt we are leaving our family in years to come then offered to sell our timeshare for us for £6500 payable upfront. Alarm bells rang so we declined the disposal but agreed to go ahead with the compensation claim and if that worked then we would dispose of the timeshare using the compensation. Never asked us for our ID or photocopied any documents we were told we had to bring. We don’t expect to hear anymore but at least we didn’t part with any money.

    • Anonymous says:

Not sure if it is a con or not.
We also met them at the old golf house last week, they guys seemed quite genuine, but it’s hard to tell these days

      • Graham says:

I went to the Golf House too. No demands for money but I haven’t heard from them since the meeting despite trying to contact them

  11. Surinder says:

Be very careful. It’s a c**. The team sound convincing but when you ask for details on e mail and they make more excuses. We have been invited to Kent (Tunbridge Wells ) . I am not going even as my claim is over £30K. I have a good relationship with my timeshare resort in the UK called Canal boat club but the Refund Action insist its Canaltime. IT IS NOt!!
    Stay Clear

  12. Matthew says:

Lots of comments but anyone actually attended a meeting? Is there a chance of getting money back?

  13. clive says:

  14. Mick says:

We have been contacted by Refund Action Group. They rang from telephone number 011571801020.Their follow up email has the telephone number +34951242875. They seemed to be genuine on the call and with the follow up e mail. They are having meetings in Surrey between 27August to the 4 September inclusive.
Is there a class action pending against DIamond Resorts? If there is how can I sign up not going through these c** merchants?

  15. Terry says:

My wife and I, have a meeting in York with a Rep from Refund Action Group. What is your advice?

  16. Anthony says:

I just received a call from a female saying she was from the Refund Action Group, asked me if I had received the letter they had sent me recently, asked me for my e mail address, gave the telephone number 0034951247110, said she was based in Almeria and that they were arranging some sort of meeting in Warrington for people like me who had been mis-sold timeshares to take joint legal action. I told her I would make enquiries about the Legal Action Group. I did a 1471 check which gave the telephone number as 08452 860993. I received a call from this number a couple of days ago as well.

  17. Robert says:

My sister has recently been cold called by a company called Knightsbridge Consultants tel no
0034952468460 the e-mail received is exactly as you have stated on your web page including a free 3night 4day meeting in spain.
i advised her it may be too good to be true and you have confirmed that.
Do you know of any way for older people to get legally out of time share, her husband is 88 years young but will not be able to travel for many more years.
    thanks for your helpful comments.

  18. marrion says:

The Refund Action group were the folks who phoned me recently as I mentioned – in fact the only ones who have recently contacted me. Re Ramirez etc I got my money back from them because they had been contacting me for yonks – it wasn’t a great deal, about £30 as i remember – about 3 or 4 years ago. It is the ONLY one I got cash back from !!! So of course I remember them.

One of those recently whose details were sent I noticed had a Manchester code phone number (O161) – the first time to my nowledge there’s been contact from that neck of the woods. Regards. Marrion
