The trap of the ‘Discount Holiday Clubs’

The Trap of the

The extent of bogus discount holiday clubs in Spain should give authorities pause for thought.

Unfortunately, when we go on holidays we tend to let down our barriers, tend to be too trusting, ignore common sense and this is what many of these bogus ‘holiday discount clubs’ scams take advantage of.

A second point is that it seems that there is a lack of capability in Spain to enforce the law and this is another advantage that the ‘bogus holiday club’ take advantage of.

European Directives and Spanish Legislation are being circumvented with ‘dirty tricks’; meanwhile thousands of European Consumers are trapped into this scam.

Another alarming statistic is that these bogus holiday discount club scams are becoming more prolific and you are beginning to find them in many touristic places in Spain such as Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote in the Canary Islands; Mijas, Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Marbella in Costa del Sol; and Benidorm and Alfaz del Pi in East Spain.

Are the existing legal system in Spain not up to the task and would it not be appropriate simply to enforce the law?

Bogus Discount holiday clubs should not be allowed to continue in Spain and authorities who fail to enforce the law should themselves be held liable for the damage caused as a result.

There is much food for thought in this article to digest.

Have a nice weekend!

I agree with the comment above. Also if they avoid Section 75 how does the holiday maker get their money back?

  2. Iain says:

Agree absolutely, there needs to be pressure from the European Parliament to clamp down and eradicate these bogus holiday clubs,it never fails to amaze me the number who are operating in Teneriffe for instance out of places such as the F****** C***, where not only the owners of the resort but also a great many others who are well known on this website are at it constantly. These operators are so skilled that they weave a tangled web so as to avoid section 75 claims, and hence there needs to be recompence for those individuals who are caught in this trap.

I really cannot believe that people are still so stupid to entertain these scum bags. It is a pity that everyone was not aware of Mindtimeshare. This site has helped so many in the past and yes these crooks should be put out of business. Do the Spanish authorities get a back hander is that the problem.
